Discovery 3 Won t start

Hi Guys can anyone help.
Just been out to the car and it won't start. All I get is a constant bleep noise when I turn the ignition on. Not intermittent like usual just continuous tone.
Codes and displays are;
Gear selector reading E
Dash dispaly codes are:
Park brake fault
Limited Gears
HDC not Available.
Can t select out of park and engine won t start.
Have tried the electronic park brake on and off and I can here the motor running.
Any ideas

Try turning the ignition on and off a few times or a hard reset.

It's the same type of message that comes up when you update the ECUs and cycling the ignition gets rid of the error messages.

Have you checked fuse number 30 under the bonnet?
It should be a 10amp fuse.

Same thing happened to me change the fuse even if it looks okay. It's the red 10 amp fuse. Cured mine

Fuse 30 yes it is, but the fuse keeps blowing. Does it require the hard reset do you guys think or is there something more serious.

I would start by disconnecting the radio suppressor bolted onto the gearbox. If you remove the panel underneath you will see a connector.
Just remove.
Replace fuse and see what happens. The only thing else on this circuit is the ECU for the transferbox which may have water ingress. This is located behind the battery.
You may find you need to reset the ECU with a suitable IID or similar.
I would start with the radio suppressor, it only takes 20 mins.
Good luck Mark.

Quick Update for you, have just tried the up rating fuse 30 to a 15amp and it gave out the smoke at the back of the engine compartment. Quickly removed it and refitted a 10 amp and the engine started and the faults seemed to have cleared for now. My suspicion is that its something more to this so my next thing is to replace the radio suppressor/capacitor. Does any one know if this is a Landrover part only or where it can be got from.

Hi mark
Any ideas where the radio suppressor can be sourced. You ll see on the thread that I've just uprated fuse 30 and then reduced it back down again. I'm thinking the suppressor shouldn't be that expensive so whilst I' under the car checking it I might as well replace it. I've got the part no as NNW502820 does come up on an Internet search

I am running mine without the radio suppressor and all is good. I just sealed up the connector.
To be fair i think it is only about £20.00/£30.00 from eblag, i just hav'nt got round to doing it Embarassed
I would disconnect and try.
Sounds like you have had a result.

After the same symptoms mine was recovered to the dealers and fuse changed. It's been fine since.
Any photos of where to disconnect the fuse for the suppressor?

Sean

Hi Sean, There is not an seperate fuse just for the suppressor, if you still get issues i would replace the suppressor or check for water ingres on the transfer case ECU.
Fuse 30 in the supply to the transfer case, and from memory it was a bit of an after thought for the suppressor so they used this feed/fuse.

For future use here's the Lucas Replacement Fuse chart...

Disclaimer: You should never put in a higher rated fuse, any reference to such is misleading and dangerous as it tends to stop you keeping the smoke inside the wires as is often found out and tends to lead to expensive repairs Whistle
