Those look cool Robert, I just wonder, as it's hard to tell in the drawings... Would that Rack clear the GPS antenna/fin on the back of some models?
I know the ProSpeed allows for this.

Love prospeed look
Hate prospeed prices
How can a jigged item be so many £££££££££
I think most makers of bolt on D3/4 bits think all owners are minted so add a lot of £

The front of my rack is actually curved to match the roofline, mesh bottom, plenty of tie down options and strong. Feet are steel but encased in a polyurethane base. 1600mm long overall.
I have this rack but full length nice item I bought it of fleebay for a bargin 200 notes with fittings

I know I'm a bit late coming in here, but I have designed manufactured quite a few racks in a business I owned/operated some years ago.
A few considerations I found when designing a decent rack.
It has to be light, but strong. Aluminium seems the best material, but it has some inherent issues with fatigue.
Your rack must flex, but not bend. Steel should be better, because Aluminium can crack. A corrugated road can very easily fracture any material that is too stiff.
What is it's intended purpose? Are you going to have a tent on top or just some jerry cans and some tyres? Mesh is probably the best all round solution here.
What is the load rating going to be? Eg: can you stand on it.
So, the way I made my racks was thus:
I used low grade chrome-moly mounts bolted onto an Aluminium mesh frame. I used low grade Cro-Mol because it's very strong but had better flex than the high grade stuff.
The rack main tubes or spars were 30mm rounded edge square tubing which gave a lot of rigidity.
The "deck" was made of Aluminium rounded edge oblong tubing covered in stuff called Amplimesh. I was able to get a load rating of approx 95kg point loading, 195kg spread loading. (For a Pajero or Patrol). I had a "spoiler" as well because a lot of customers wanted it, but I'm not convinced it aids aerodynamics. I sort of feel its better for the air to flow threw inside of over.
The rack were complete overkill in many ways, but I never had a customer come back to me with a complaint. The army at one stage were interested in buying some off me, but then they went other directions as far as vehicles. (I was sort of glad actually)
I wish I could post up some pics, but I sold the business years ago and a lot of that information went with the business. If you need any more help, please feel free to PM me
