You need to be careful what is used as certain oils produce high ash content when burned,, best to stick to a non synthetic two stroke oil (JASO-FB), been used by a lot of peeople on here and other land rover forums with good results

Happy to report that I received a call yesterday late afternoon from the dealer to collect the D3 as everything was sorted. It appears that some of you guys were spot on with suggestions as to what could be the outcome, yes serious carbon build up which took some shifting, probably down to a one previous lady owner and very low milage and me being a little too pampering in my first year of ownership and not as much towing done last year, needs to be driven every now and again.
What a nice feeling to pop into the dealers to pick up my landrover after a service, MOT and remedial work to sort out the emissions problem without having to go into my pocket all thanks to a 3 year service plan, complimentary MOT and a good warranty.
The old saying "you don't miss something until you've lost it" is quite true. I thoroughly enjoyed my 45 mile journey home in the D3 yesterday afternoon after being without it for a week, it way flying along the A55 we don't appreciate how comfortable and powerfull a vehicle it is.
A big thanks to Conwy Landrover for the courtesy car, and as always excellent service from very helpful and pleasant staff
A very happy,
BarryT

Northern Ireland MOT test emission limits. |
|
According to the NI MOT website vehicle emission are not tested to the general national (UK) limits but to the "design levels" of the manufacturer.
In my opinion this is engineering a failure requiring a retest.
Nice little earner for the Government operated testing station.
Website stating limits.
