Spare wheel well
I took a look in here after reading threads about maintaining the cable hoist.
The tyre looks as new and never used, with all the molding whiskers still bristling.
Anything I should do in this area, now I know how simple it is to access?
Apart from the easy bit?
Thanks

Take the wheel out and liberally spray the winch mechanism and wire with WD40 or silicone grease, wind the wheel up and down a few times (never wind up without the weight of the wheel), add this to your list of maintenance jobs every month
Also swap the spacesaver for a real wheel and tyre ! (often available on the forum)...I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Thanks, definitely on the list.
Running 255/55/19 - would that fit in the wheel well?
Thanks

Lol Register it’s definitely useful to have a “proper” spare. Never understood why they put a space saver in something like a Discovery, it’s not as if it doesn’t have room
Post a pic of what wheels you have on the wanted thread and I’m sure one of us will have one or find one 2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

If you do not already have one, you might also like to look out for a spare wheel protector, or anti theft plate. Without one the spare wheel on early cars is easy to steal. You would need one designed for a 19 inch wheel. The majority of protectors are branded RLD and supplied by this site's Uncle Ray.

Thanks Kevin and Nigethecat - just the encouragement I really don't need.
Ronald - thanks, you've almost provided a reason not to.
Just incase however, they look remarkably like this
