How to open roof box
Hopefully super simple, but…
I bought a roof box with experience off eBay.
I have two keys which operate the locks on either side.
Just can't get it open.
Is there a catch/lever/hammer operation I’m missing?
Thanks

I've got a thule bike rack box which looks to have exactly the same locking mechanism and i usually have to jiggle the lid up and down a bit to release it. Lock it then unlock it then jiggle the lid .

Thanks I’ll give that a go.
I’ve not been able to find a photo of the internals to understand what I’m working with.
Trying to avoid engaging the percussion instrument if possible.

Thanks, but it’s was through a breakers not the vehicle owner.

There are three latch points on each side, front, middle (above lock) and rear.
The key moves a short bar that latches above the lock, and in turn moves two more bars that reach the front and back latches.
If the key is fully turned to the unlock position, the bars will have all disengaged from the latches. It needs to be fully turned - even a couple of degrees back from fully turned will lead to one or more of the latches staying closed.
Once fully turned then jiggling is the answer. The lids are a close fit and create a bit of a vacuum effect when you open them, so easier when the box is on bars or you have someone holding the bottom.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Yes in my experience it is very difficult unless the box is fitted down.. which you just simply need to open the box to do

I feared as much.
Is the key absolutely horizontal in fully open position?
I can get it through a 175 degree turn to approx 5 degrees if horizontal.
Is that sufficient?
Thanks
Usually it's a full 180. Is it the same on the other side? If it turns more on the other side of the box, give that a go. If not, hold it as far around as you can, then pull up on the top as close to the middle (directly above the lock) as possible.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Thanks, I'm at 175 degrees both sides.
I'll apply a bit of encouragement

My roofbox lock is susceptible to not turning all the way after it's been exposed to salt in the air/spray from going on tiny ferries and being parked by the sea in Scotland.
I sprayed some WD40 into the lock and left it for a bit, which worked. I then wiped down the metal locking bars inside the box.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Just to close this thread.
With the box on the ground, one person either side and a sharp lift.
