Checked a fuse and now have engine warning light?!
Well that didn't take long to break, was just introducing myself, mentioned my heated seats didn't work so checked the fuses near battery, and for some reason I now have the amber engine warning light on, not the EMS but "petrol only" one (on my diesel)... any ideas what i could have done?
Literally just removed the plastic cover, then the fuse box cover, checked the 2 seat fuses (both fine), put it all back and then this.
There's no performance loss or smoke or anything, surely it's something I've somehow done checking the fuses... I've read these cars are temperamental but this is crazy

Welcome!
If you fill out your profile completely it will be easier for members to help as we can then know which vehicle and spec you have. In the meantime it may just be a coincidence that your EML is now on due to another fault, but check the following fuses anyway in the battery junction box.
Hi, thanks, I've just filled out profile.. I will check those fuses in the morning in the light and hopefully dry! I really hate to think it's a coincidence and something worse is going on, certainly wasn't there before I checked the fuses! Fingers crossed I've somehow dislodged something in there and it's nothing serious ..expected more than 24 hours without issues but maybe was wishful thinking

Consider buying a decent and if possible "dedicated" LR diagnostic tool.
I was really hoping the reliability issues may have been slightly exaggerated over the years, surely someone out there has a LR that actually works
OK will see what I find tomorrow, thank you for the link, pricey but perhaps like you say necessary!

Out of interest is it likely to be anything to worry and lose sleep over? I only ask because the manual suggests that light is only for petrol models unless I'm not understanding the manual

No, it's not likely to be anything major. All EU4 protocol LR diesels (MY07>) will have an EML to inform the driver if there is any fault which impacts on the vehicles emissions. You might just have disturbed something (hopefully ) but not worth losing any sleep over.
You can look forward plenty of those nights in the months and years ahead. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

there was a thin white wire coming out of the fuse/battery area, maybe I somehow pinched it putting it all back together, not sure what it's for but will check it out, as I was putting the cover back on I was wondering how this goes back on without squashing that wire

Usually wires coming out the top of the fuse box indicate someone has added something. Find where the wire goes.

Well had a fiddle with the fuses again didn't do anything, went for a drive and the light went off after a few miles, few stops and starts later it's not come back on, so hopefully I'm just one of the lucky ones with a self-fixing disco
