What’s this wire?

Swapping my battery around at the weekend I noticed I had a thin black wire attached by a nut onto my negative terminal.

Any idea what this is and should it be there?

A couple of pics to show better

I don’t understand what could be using the negative, I’ve fitted the hands free and dash cam myself and have nothing else?

And strange returned to the -vet on the battery, not just an earthing point somewhere nearer to where whatever it is that's powered is placed. Confused

Strange isn’t it? It’s barely held on too which is concerning. I’ll have to follow it and see where it ends up.

wonder if someone has run an extra earth to the chassis or body , maybe had an issue in the past

as from the photo it looks like a 16mm cable and assume u haven’t got a split charge system fitted

Would this be the only indication of a split charge system? The previous owner did tow if that has any bearing?

Hi

no, u would also have a spare aux battery and relay , along with a positive connection to the main battery

only thing i can think of is that extra body /chassis earth

suppose the only way to be 100% is follow the lead Whistle

looks a bit thin for engine earthing ... battery condition checker ? or repair to a failing earth point somewhere?

UPDATE....

So I’ve been out trying to find an obvious fault for my suspension light coming on. I was swapping my battery out with one out my bmw and took more pictures.

It’s a wiring loom of sorts with a relay and manufacturing label on it (just dates etc) and eventually terminated at fuse f19 with a 15amp fuse. I don’t really want to remove it incase I do something to the car as I need it for the weekend.

Any ideas? I’m stumped.

hi

just looked in my owners manual and doesn’t indicate anything

wonder if could be a loom for front lights etc

will have a look at some of the wiring looms and see if anything comes up to help identify it
