Delay in heating/ cooling fan coming on after start up

Hi All - my 05 D3 HSE has developed a delay in the fan starting when in auto mode. It can take 5 mins or more for the car to register the interior temperature and respond accordingly. If I use the defrost programme everything works immediately as does switching the heating to manual. There is no problem with regulating temperature once the system is going - it just takes a while to start. It’s the same for max temp as it is for minimum which used to override the sensor and blow out very hot or very cold on demand. Any ideas? Thanks

All my cars when in auto will only start the fans when engine temp able to bring cabin upto required temp. If I set the temp at 22 and it’s -3 outside, I don’t want the fans blowing freezing cold air into the cabin until it’s warmed.
Sticking the hvac onto windscreen will bring the fans on at any temp to help dehumidify the screen.

Same as mine. I think it’s a good design! Why would you want cold air blowing on you?

As far as I know its normal. My D4 is the same, as have been all my previous D3’s.
