WD sorted now. Paid £460.00 including air bag emissions and sat nav being covered. Excess reduced to £25 a claim and all covered from 1st August rather than 90 days. EPB has been specifically covered but not the switch or signal sent, only the motors themselves but thats ok.
Of course, the proof will be in the pudding when it comes to claim but at least there is a level of assurance

Be interested to know good/bad experiences with WD for the D3? I've not claimed on mine yet, but am in the garage on Monday, which I expect will be a claim...2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

just in the process of reclaiming the cost of 2 wheel bearings done at Duckworths ( ) submitted all of the paperwork to reclaim the cost on the 30th April, I have chased it up and was told it had been approved and was processed but not posted
don't seem to be too quick at paying out @ franchised dealer rates,
Claimed on March 30th for a new alternator and drive belt tensioner pulley (both change by 10FC during 75K service - thanks Iain )
There was bit of a mix-up at first as to who should claim - they told me first that 10FC should (which he did) but then changed their minds and said I needed to.
Eventually all was sorted though and the cheque (less £50 excess and wear & tear %age ) arrived last Saturday.
A bit slow but what insurance company isn't and at the end of the day, £100 or so less is better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. Now an ex-D3 owner after 7 happy years. Miss the car but not the big bills

Fight won!
A very nice Mr Colin Eaton rang me to accept the EPB repair claim.
I did ask Honest John of the Daily Telegraph (by e-mail) to intervene with WD. He has a good measure of influence in consumer matters.
Now - do I renew??? What else can be not covered? The engine, because piston rings are not mentioned? Uppsy-downsy sexy air suspension, for being unusual? I dunno.
But happy for now...2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

All new WD warranties (1st Apr onwards) stipulating franchise dealer labour rates require the vehicle to be serviced at Franchise also.... (for any possible new customers)57 RRS TDV8

Yes and No John,
On one hand yes, I can understand why W/D would like you to input the same level of care/expense they are expected to provide in the event of a failure....
but on the other hand, changing oil, filters, fluids, is hardly something worth paying £200 an hour for!..
I've enquired about EGR replacements etc to non franchised dealers/independant garages, and all I get is..oh..not sure how long that'll take, not done one of thoses before etc etc..hence reason to go franchised...but now I have to fork out £500 on a 5 year service..where my local garage has quotes £250...
PS I'm not claiming for the EGR replacement... as it's an existing fault..just an example!57 RRS TDV8

They didn't say that to me when I set up my policy recently. I'm sure it has to be a VAT registered garage only no matter whether its franchise rates or not. Will check tonight but sure the paperwork states that.Badda bing.......How you doin'?

Seems fair to me - just renewed after confirmation of cover for all D3 "normal fitments" - but then I had already signed up for a 3-year service agreement with Copley LR so I was going there anyway.
Will they accept new business from someone who HAS used independents in the past?
As the stipulation is unfair on the independents, is it legal? Enforceable?
Will they word the condition to prevent ALL independent repairer attention, or just to specify Servicing by Franchised dealers?

All I know (backed up with a phone call to W/D this morning) is if you want Franchised labour rate cover... and your policy has been set up after April 1st 2010..then you HAVE to have all servicing done at a franchise (in the same 12 month period) to keep that £200 an hour ceiling cover...otherwise it'll drop to £60 odd.
I'm not 100% if this applies to existing renewing customers57 RRS TDV8

Must confess I didn't listen in barrister-level detail to the spoken "small print" but that sounds like what they were saying to me as a renewer (rather than new business).
