Need help with T-Max Split Charge/Yellow Top
As above really,
Car was sitting for a week as I was on holiday, the only thing running was the Blackvue. Having now checked the footage on the camera it seems that the camera recorded for a short while the first time I drove the car when I got back on Friday.
BrianT & I checked the voltage yesterday and the yellow top was at 4 volts but it doesn't seem to be charging, the alternator is basically new and everything else seems to be working as it should apart from the 2nd battery taking a charge, it shows on the display that the batteries are linked but still seems to de dead?
Don't want to start stripping it just in case it's something simple?
Is the yellow top too drained to take a charge?
Any ideas would be welcomed?

Thanks Robbo
Hopefully it just needs a charge, don't have a charger yet but maybe borrow one and give it a go!

charger
Hi
Make sure its the correct charger as you cant just use any old charger to charge a yellow top battery it needs to be a special type for dry cell batteries like a ctek

Thanks Mike,
What model of CTEK would suit the yellow top as well as the D3's main battery?

Stephen, with some split chargers, they won't charge if they think there is no battery connected. ISTR i fixed someone else tmax split charge by connecting a cable from the main + to the aux + and therefore it detected 12v and carried on working. May be something that simple.Bodsys Brake Bible

Thanks guys,
Bodsy,
Obviously I have the + cables attached via the solenoid, are you saying you temporarily connected an additional cable as well as just to get it going again?
Not very good with this stuff

That's exactly right Stephen. To make the intelligent bit of the charger think it had a battery connected as at the moment there's not enough power for it to recognise there's a battery there. Bodsys Brake Bible
I think you might find there is nothing wrong with the system I would think the yellow top is just got to low for it to charge one way to see would be to start the car and put jump leads from the cranking battery to the yellow top and see if it bursts in to life you might have to leave it running a while but will give you a clue to what is wrong.

Ok guys no further forward really.
I've manually charged the battery and its been holding a charge of about 11.6 volts for a couple of weeks but I've not connected anything to it yet.
I've double checked the wiring and its fine, when I switch the engine on I can hear the solenoid clicking over but it's just not charging the yellow top?
I've contacted the suppliers tonight, hopefully they'll get back to me soon.
Any ideas in the meantime would be useful 2016 RR Sport Autobiography
