I'm very pleased you're all a big fan of Elton John's room spray being marketed as wheel cleaner....sorry Bilberry ...
However we just tried this...wundergunge.... http://www.superfine.co.uk/product.php?prodid=ip40tgs2
...makes Iron-X look like rose water ...works a treat....but do NOT ...I repeat.... DO NOT leave it on your wheels for long....it will dissolve them...its an industrial product for cleaning the brake dust off train wheels....
...Very nice shiny wheels though... "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Use usual Autoglym products + a Spontex cloth is great on those black brake dust specks and doesn't scratch my wheels.

cant believe this is sold this way
...this is a serious cocktail of strong acids
INDUSTRIAL STRENGTHS......I worked for 10 years in Semi-Conductor manufacturing (where strong glass etching acids are sort of "normal").....I built up a healthy respect for any acid.....besides injuring people they inflict huge damage to metals & change the nature of plastics & rubber.
the COSHH sheet for this stuff says it all
I wouldn't even carry this stuff in the car let alone put onto alloy wheels...the Iron-X stuff does the same & is to my investigations pH neutral.
Actually its all about how much labour & time you want to save in cleaning your precious wheels...if you dont want to wait or use your hands in applying...use anything alkaline or acidic...you get clean wheels & risk damaging them irrevocably...
Use something less potent (you have to use some manual rubbing & applying) you get the same thing ...but takes a little longer....
....are you prepared to wreck 800 to 100 pounds with of wheel by dodgy risky cleaning materials ?
strangely a mix of white spirit & fairy liquid & warm water "works", doesn't damage the wheels but just isn't as quick. BREXIT - done properly.

Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

BL....There was a healthy dose of tongue firmly in cheek involved with my post.....It was a riposte to the completely useless, but somehow healthy-selling Bilberry product....
I doubt any right-minded person, reading my post the way it was presented, would seriously consider using the product on their wheels.....if the do,they would certainly be proving a number of Darwin's theories were correct...
We use it very carefully, with full protection for cleaning salt damaged metals "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I sort of realised that when I pressed the submit button....but there are folk on here that may just be tempted
its surprising what people actually use for cleaning tasks...I saw once a factory cleaner using a stainless steel post weld etching gel for cleaning tiles...."it works really well" & it did with a strong dose of hydrofluoric acid in it...Hydrofluoric acid is one of the ones to stay well clear of...it isn't neutralised by alkali's water or even other acids...you have to have antidote gel & rush the injured party to hospital FAST.Nasty Nasty stuff...it eats glass...& most metals are severely damaged if not done properly
Quote:We use it very carefully, with full protection for cleaning salt damaged metals....
....always ensure that the kit you have on is hose down-able so if you get a splash your buddy can hose you off before you try to remove any of the gear ...I dont know where & what you work at but check out that your safety gear is proofed for the acid, you wear it & you stick rigidly to the procedures.....if they are there & written down. BREXIT - done properly.

At the time supergung was formulated 30years ago on the Railways I was part of the team to develop and test it!
BL is right it is lethal stuff ! It's is toxic, eye protection must be worn and is a good way to get a rash.
It was developed to lift cast iron brake block dust from paint work . It's in gell form to adhere to vertical surfaces!
Leave it alone! Please
