special programs off

seem to be getting the above message more and more with the assosiated loss of power

i have carried out a search and most threads about this usually have esf msg as well but i dont
some also have suspension lowering but again i do not only the special programs off

has anyone had this scenario and what was the outcome

oh and its not at start up its during driving

Not intercooler hose as looked today but didn't expect a split anyway because they are nearly new silicone ones

Could be a wheel speed sensor on its way out...

One of my thoughts was brake switch but a wheel speed sensor sounds plausible too

Had it on autolgic yesterday but because I had done a hard reset to try get my fbh going I had no codes stored

from personal experience, neither had I even though we'd had two go in less than 12 months, I also changed the brake pedal as it had done 550k Rolling with laughter

will say it did cure the issue though Thumbs Up

pinhead: TBH buddy, what you're having are text book symptoms listed many, many times on the forum. Unfortunately for you, there are a number of different avenues you can go down regarding what the possible problem may be and they are all listed on the forum in various forms. Rolling Eyes

From my own understanding, first port of call is to have the fault codes read. Put out a shout on the forum for help from the nearest Faultmate MV owner. Yours may possible be Flack but Yorkshire is a big place mate, you'd do well to amend your location in your profile. Rolling Eyes

Next, consider replacing both your brake switch ( as already suggested ) and your brake light bulbs. Both are well documented on the forum but for what they cost collectively, replace them, it can only help eliminate them if nothing else.

Next, search the forum for EGR faults and satisfy yourself you're not/are in that category, Wink

Finally, have your steering angle sensor re-calibrated, your friendly Faultmate MV owner can do this. It resolved my issue which was pretty god damn similar to yours. Wink

Good luck with it, you'll sort it but make sure you explore all avenues coz your symptoms cover a multitude of different and various possible faults Thumbs Up

Ian.

Right got brake light switch replaced today and it has not cured it
Swmbo says it is doing it more often and I can make it happen now by flooring the throttle it takes a while to Kick in but a big hill and foot to the floor does it
Got it plugged in and had egr faults (blanked so not a suspect)
Also had p0248 overboost condition detected
And had (can't remember ) injector 3 max trim limit exceeded
I have a fuel filter in the garage so will swap that when I get a chance but I am at a bit of a loss now to what it could be
Just to confirm it flys and it is sustained full throttle that throws limp mode not just a quick blast
I only get special program's off (no esf message)
Intercooler hoses aresilicone replacements
Not long ago after this had started but was less frequent then on auto logic injector balances were checked and were very similar and well in tolerance (I put this down to 2so in diesel)

Been thinking about this quite a bit and may try cleaning the turbo
I seem to lack boost really low down (driving bosses d3 has confirmed it should be a bit better ) and I am wondering if my vanes are a little cloged
Has anyone done this for similar symptoms ?

well on way back from helmsley it seems it has goten worse and i am now somtimes getting engine system fault before special programs off and i can make it fault on command i can also drive around the issue but this is not the answer

got home and fuel filter swapped for a genuine item and its still the same

i really am starting to think this is turbo actuator partially seized or vaines in turbo cloged and sticky i may actually be about to join CFT but i hope not i have blathered the area around the turbo with wd40 in the hope some will get to the rod and cycled the ignition a few times to make it do the full sweep (which sounds very strained)

so has anyone fitted the actuator rod themselfs?

really starting to fear for my wallet now with this fault
had it terra cleaned today with the it probably wont help but you never know its worth a try attitude and it has not helped they even said it was very clean and didnt kick the carp out the back that they usually do
but on a cleared road on the way back i gave it a bit to see and got the special programs off quick ignition reset on the fly like i am a dab hand at now and when i got underway again i noticed it made a strange noise when under load at higher rpm (not full load or it would triger SPO ) i am wondering if its injector knock

i know it needs better diagnostics but when i went on to my mates this morning his ramps were all full and he was a bit too busy so at the minute i am really needing moral support and ideas

I consider a fault code reader a 'must have' accessory for any D3 / D4. Is there anyone nearby that could read your codes for you?

i have had this a few times and all under load Confused on inspecting injectors one had been leaking carbon and had about 10 mm build up around the top , i think this had been leaking for months ,so hour and half to take injector out as it had corroded in with carbon ,so out cleaned and cleaned injector bore , new washer and back togther , no more knock and sounds sweet as a nut now this was a few months ago , but other day had power loss and spo and engine fault again , turned of for ten mins and all fine again Confused but yesterday found both front lower wish bones are well Censored good and propper Whistle so does this afect the steering angle sensor Question so will order new onnes tomoz from TLO and fit on saterday Thumbs Up but it can do your head in if you let it mate Confused Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
