TBH, I have a great relationship with everyone at GS Stockport. Reception staff and service guys are excellent, and whilst they did lose my car in the system for a couple of weeks when I was expecting delivery, the sales staff are all an approachable bunch too.
The management came up trumps when they loaned me a brand new FFRR whilst my D4 was having the bits that were incorrectly fitted at the factory, replaced.
So, whilst it has certainly not been a story of sweetness and love with my new car, I think the dealer has been pretty good considering.

We've had the exact same symptoms on our BMW. Car would drive perfectly for ten miles or so ...start wobbling and then get increasingly worse until smoke started pouring out of the wheel arch and car would become undriveable. After pulling over for five minutes you could drive the car off as normal... Did exactly as the others have done and pushed calliper back into housing and copper slipped everything up only to reoccur ten minutes down the road...
What it was in our case was the brake calliper that was keeping the brake pad in contact with the disc.... Eventually the pad heated the disc until both had expanded almost locking pad onto disc.... As soon as you pulled over for a few minutes the pads and disc would cool and the disc would return to the original .....you could drive for another few miles before the whole cycle would start again. We replaced the calliper and problem solved.... Either the calliper is u/s or something in the system is holding the pad /calliper out! Good luck!

I hear what you say FC, we thought this a possibility, but its both front brakes getting red hot. So maybe both calipers are sticky, but unlikely on a new vehicle.
Also, as they have already had to fit new discs and pads, I would hope they would have spotted that.
My money is on the abs unit, or master cylinder not opening the brake fluid in the system to the reservoir when the pedal is released. We think an abs unit fault would log an error, and there are none recorded.
As it is not repeatable 'on the ground' in the workshop, and comes and goes when it feels like, I would be happier if they changed both as a precaution.

Gareth when we were at Gaydon they did a demostration where by under emergency braking the car applies extra pressure to the brakes to ensure you brake as much as possible and stop as quickly as possible, perhaps there is an issue with the system that controls this? I'm towing the tintent to Shropshire on Friday, so hopefully will be ok.

And she's back.
Hopefully that's the end of it now. Brakes feel normal (but they did feel normal before, until it went wrong)
All set for a weekend away. 8)

Well, after 35k miles since this happened, it repeated itself twice in the last week. Just been to Abersoch for a few days and it first did it on the way there. Big wheel wobble on the motorway, I was convinced I had a puncture, then after I slowed to prepare to get to the hard shoulder, it went away as quickly as it came. Did it again on the motorway today on return journey. Again, violent shake, got even worse when I touched the brakes, then went away. !

Gareth, that last post sounded similar to an issue I had when I had the D4.
I pulled on to the hard shoulder of the M1 (Sheffield) expecting to find a puncture, but all was well, so just put it down to deep truck tyre ruts that was causing the wobble.
Moved off, all was ok, joined the M18 then after a few miles it came back again.
Hard shoulder - LR Technician - recovered to dealer to be told it was the EPB binding.
Annoying thing was it happened on a Mon and the D4 was just out from a service on the Fri.
Dealer said it wasn't a service scheduled check up item - though they reckoned it should be.
Long story short - emailed LR Executive office - fumed - didn't pay for service.
Good luck in getting it resolved.

Ron, where do you get yours serviced, as mine's due in March, and I'm looking for somewhere a bit nearer than Lincoln! Armstrong Massey, York is nearest, but I haven't found many people saying anything good about them D4 MY14 XXV - RLD/IID BT

Cheers Ron, but as its the steering wheel that wobbles alarmingly, I can't see it being the epb. Its the front brakes that seem to be binding. The front wheels got very hot today, both of them. What chance of both calipers sticking at the same time?
If this was on my Series 2, Id be checking the free play between the pedal and the master cylinder, its almost as though the pedal has zero travel before the brakes are on. Is there an adjustment on the D4?
