Sat Nav / Infotainment - Slow Respone Time?

Is there a way to improve the response time of the infotainment unit?

For example, when entering a postcode or a name for a 'favourite' location, the system seems to take some moments to recognise each individual key press. I've never come across such a slow system - is it just mine and can anything be done to speed it up?

Hard to comment with no details of your car in your profile.

It really does make things easier when people fill it in as model years and spec can alter the answers.

Mine too Sad Entering anything such as postcode, address, town, street name is very slow indeed. I think the old D3 system was far quicker in this respect.

As far as I know there is no known fix, its the way the system has been programmed. Personally, if I were in charge of the software development on this, I would be kicking the programmers Censored .

One tip is to keep an eye on the number of possibilities returned as you type each character, it will reduce the more you enter. As soon as it gets to a low-ish number, press LIST and find the town/street that you are looking for.

Might be one to highlight to Liam @ Landrover now he has got a resolution for the engine hesitation? I am sure its just a software fix thats needed.

Liam knows about it (there is a thread). Someone had a fix applied but it didn't work. A few on here awaiting the next attempt.

Profile updated!

I didn't think to add the vehicle spec, as I thought there was only one sat nav model... either standard or optional. Either way, I was hoping that someone would be able to say whether it is a general problem or one apparently specific to my car and, if the former, whether there is a fix for it. I did look back through earlier posts but didn't spot anything relevant. It's good to know that LR are dealing with it but nevertheless surprising that someone signed it off for production like that!

On another point, what is the 'hesitation' that they are attempting to fix?

I am having exactly the same problem with my 2012 D4. The system is so slow at responding to any change of input. It is actually slow moving from phone to audio or sat nav to radio etc. putting inputs into the sat nav takes ages. There is always about a 2 second delay before anything happens. Try finding an artist on the linked IPOd and it is really tedious and potentially dangerous if driving, due to the amount of time it takes to respond. My previous D4 2010 MY was way quicker.
Des anyone know if Land Rover UK are going to fix this.
I should point out that apart from this, I just love the car. It is brilliant but let down by a hi fi system that seems worse than on the previous model.

Solution for the MY2012 D4 slow infotainment issue.

If you have a slow response with your touch screen infotainment system try this below:

Press : Setup (button)
Press : Screen (touchscreen)
Press : Screen Animation (touchscreen)
Press : Off (touchscreen)

I've been suffering with this for 10 months. Called Hunters Land Rover in Chester and 5 minutes later the Infotainment system is just as responsive as it should be.

This worked for me so give it a go.

Many thanks for the tips. I have tried this suggestion of turning of the screen animation and it has made a difference to the whole system response. Still not quite as quick as the 2010my system but much better than before.
Back to being happy with it again.
Many thanks for all the input on this thread.

The screen animation tip seems to have improved things on our MY12 too, certainly with inputting/switching audio functions. We never use the sat nav so can't say if it's any quicker.

Ok here's the cat in the pigeons! My 2013 model she lux does not have this setting! Mine only has Volume Pop up, Screen Saver, Time out to home menu, and Theme buttons. Nothing for Animation anywhere.

Well I checked that and it is already Off, I wonder if this was the "software update" that was done? Whistle Whistle

Per my earlier post the animation off tip seemed to speed things up on our MY12 XS.

The car was serviced today and the dealer had a note from the time I booked it in asking them to look at the slow response (before I followed the animation off tip).

Anyway they have sent a TR (technical response) request to LR and will let me know what they say. I know others have had similar promises and nothing much appears to have happened. Nevertheless I will let you all know what the response is and any suggested solution.
