Go for the IR headphones if you can?
I ran the audio through the rear input - with only one set of headphones coming with the unit, I just thought we'd do without. Got a second pair recently, and OMG is it bliss. Repeat that every 60 minutes on a 13 hour journey and they seem to get the message around 8 hours in
