Decided to have the lifeshine package on the new Golf, the dealer is offering to give me the lifeshine treatment and package on the D3 for £295, what's people's experience of this and is it worth doing, it seems quite a good offer?

I've noticed recently that some dealers - when you trade a car in as a part exchange - will ask if the car bodywork was ever treated with anything from new. I have no idea what effect this will have on the residuals of the car in the future but I'm sceptical about these bodywork treatments, personally.
We had SWMBO's Golf done with GardX when we bought it last year from the VW dealer in Manchester but I'm still bemused as to why I ever bothered with it.
If it buys you an additional £300 when you trade the car in then it might be worthwhile. Otherwise, what are you actually paying for? Because you can't see it!

Had it on the new Golf, as I cannot recall the last tome SWMBO polished the old one and i understand it helps repel water so a simple wash will bring it up looking well.
We've had the last Golf 13 years from new and it looks good still only a small blister patch on the front wing, got £200 more than we buy any car value in trade in so quite happy
Thanks guys, I wasn't looking for this to be done, but it seemed a good offer, the seat treatment more than anything as the Disco is the work car and family bus come weekends and holidays with 2 young boys.
Normally it gets a wash shampoo and polish once a month with a quick wash off in between most weeks,
Might give it a miss based on feedback so far, after all I'll have the goody bag from the Golf to mess with Altox GSM FBH controller thread

I agree, get a detailer to spend a day doing the same thing, be cheaper and he'll spend more time that the dealer people spend doing it.

Don't bother.
If you fancy a really good shine £300 buys quite a bit of time with a professional detailer.

If they ask you if u had it done on the part ex - I reckon they would give you the impression that its worth more so that you spend it on the purchase - but then again I am cynical
Had it done once by an independent near me - not really convinced tbh Illegitimi Non Carborundum
If they have to ask, maybe they can't tell either... so you might as well say yes ... ____

Beanie,
I remember buying an audi a5. Paid top money for it, and was offered the lifetime shine for £250, which i accepted. Car looked the mutts nutts
Then two weeks later, i asked one of my staff to wash my car, i was running late for a meeting, and needed to make an impression on arrival.
The said member of staff washed my car with traffic film remover, commonly used in most hand car washes accross the country......the lifeshine wax was no more......and neither was that persons employment
Moto to my story.....unless ur gonna wash the car, on a regular basis yourself, and top the wax up....dont bother!2.7tdv6 SE.

I found them on here regarding windscreen coatings which i found pretty good. I've got some C2 liquid crystal in the garage waiting for a day in the summer to apply. Apparently easy to apply over the whole car including glass and bumpers.
