Front seat base disassemble
Hi all.
Wondering how ray it is to remove the plastic seat base covers on both front seats.
These have the electric seat controls fitted in them.
My airbag light is on after one of the sets was moved, I think it's either trapped a wire or loosened a connector under the seats.
Do you just pull them off or is there a proper safe way of doing it without breaking any clips etc that may be holding it in place.
Mot is next month so want to get it sorted before then.

The seat base cushion is only held by 4 torx screws accessed from underneath. Popping that out of the way gives great access.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Finally found some time, when it's not snowing or -3 etc.
Driver's side is not the issue, so it's the passenger side one.
That can wait till thursday.
On the plus side, i found a pencil AND 1 euro under the seats. Plus a crisp and half a mcds chip..

Simple, remove the seat belt shrouds, the bottom of seat vplastic shroud is held with a small torx screw at either end, it is about half way up and on the inside, once removed there is a plastic drop in clip to secure the plastic housing, this is toward the front, lift upwards to remove from its housing, job doneCaptain Nick Medhurst would ask:

Yeah, found the 4 screws and up it came.
Need to do the pass side, but theres a lack of clearance to get to the front screws, plus there was one of the brackets half off.

Thanks number 31, good help.
Sadly, after checking all wires, connectors that i can see. The light won't go away. Looks like it's time to have a 1-1 with a diagnostic machine.
It won't pass an MOT with that red light on will it?
The MOT is not till the end of the month and there's a couple of other bits i need to change as well.
Look under the seat rail that the seats bolts to the floor , you will need to pull up a bit of carpet the rear edges of some of the seat rails are known to have been left with very sharp edges and its this that can cut in to the air bag wiring causing your problem, you might even have to remove the seat's fully to inspect the wiring .

Inner or outer seat rails?
Seat removal sounds drastic.. but could be worth it to solve this.
Plus i found that the pass front torx bolts are rounded so couldn't get those out.

Those seats are H.E.A.V.Y!
I got the airbag warning lamp on

B1A55-14
B1A00-49
Airbag module needs to be replaced.
Got a new one but I dont know if its just plug'N'play.
Get the fault codes stored in the module to see what its naggin about..

I had my airbag light on. Went in for a service with Steve Norman. He noticed it and fixed the problem. All was good for a couple of months and then the wife drove the car and moved the seat. Light is now back on. So there must be a wire chafing again. Need to have a look under the drivers seat and see what's what.HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

That was my original feeling, hence removing seat bases and having a good look around at the wires, but i can't find anything to suggest "this is the problem"
Also, i don't like being the guinea pig.
Can't someone else go find out and report back to me?
