Black /Silver Steering Wheel Badge Change
Ok ...here is how i changed my steering wheel badge for a black / silver one .
First 4 new Wheel centers were ordered from Ebay ...as it was cheeper than the dealer.
I could of just got one , but others wanted the rest .
Masked up one of the badges
Removed the black badge by putting small screwdriver under each side ...its stuck on quite well so work around slowly.
]
Next the steering wheel
Masked off the badge
With a small screwdriver lift of the top middle. You will see 2 brass tabs .These need to be bent flat so you can remove the top of the badge ( i have also read that you can snip these off with a pair of scissors - to save you bending them)
Then fold the badge downward , this will then straigten the bottom tabs so you can remove it.
Next i mixed up a bit of araldite apoxy resin ( i suppose superglue would do)
I also snipped of the tabs on the old green one
Then i stuck the new black / silver one on the steering wheel ( held in place with a bit of masking tape)
I also stuck the green one back in the wheel center ( so i have a spare )
10 mins later removed the masking tape and ...nice shiney steering wheel badge .
There you go , took about 15 mins ..most of that was waiting for the glue to dry.
There is other ways of doing it ..so i have read.
1, Drill small hole in steering wheel badge , pop in a small screw and pull it off ...but the badge is then useless
2, Not masking off the wheel center if you dont need it any more
3, The door card on a RRS have the same badges ...part number of Part# EKA 500040WYZ ...only found this out after i ordered the wheel centers .
4, look at this post here http://www.rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic7593.h...heel+badge
One last thing ...the badges are made of VERY thin metal ..so take your time prising them off other wise you will bend them
Hope this helps some one
NOTE - DO THIS MODIFICATION AT YOUR OWN RISK G4 Gone ...but not forgotten
