As if an intermittent screech from the EPB (all booked in at Indy) was not enough to deal with the top tail gate wont release!!! Consultation with the oracle "Go Beyond" helped massively, thanks mate! Picking the part up today but how do I get in to the bottom half of the tail gate to release it without damaging the two sliding sections of carpet???
Far less serious but just as annoying is my top glove box lid rattles like a How do I stop it as there appears to be no adjustment on the catch or rubber stoppers. I ve tried turning the radio up but SWMBO and The Hound are not keen on this option!
Cheers

A few careful squirts of silicone lube ought to keep the glovebox quiet - on the hinges, as well as the catch.
Or you could find something to bolster the rubber feet and keep the thing under a bit more tension.

OK, door wont open with the pressing the lock and unlock buttons at the same time trick and my hands wont fit inside the hole in the rear door to release it so I can fit the new part. Any one in East Renfrewshire available to assist? Really need back door working. Thanks

Job abandoned and booked in to the dealer for a job price of £200 tomorrow at 0830. Impossible to do it when your hand barely fits through the hole to gain access to the part. Least it will be done by 1030 tomorrow. Off for a beer. p*ssed off and perplexed at such a bad design with such poor access.

I suppose there's £65 in parts there, Narpy, following the recent JLR Parts Pricing Fiasco...

Almost makes it sound quite reasonable for main dealer labour rates!

especially upset as the labour must be a child to get their hand to where it needs to be!!! FYI £200 is the labour I already bought the part to DIY

Nelly you don't do the replacement with the tailgate shut.
Once you've got your hand in and pulled the broken cable, the upper tailgate will release allowing access to do the repair with both upper and lower tailgates open.
You only need little girl hands in the initial stage after that it's straight forward that's why £200 is so huge.
And here was me thinking you lads north of the border had a reputation to maintain. Mods:

Quick question, when I go to pull the carpet down off the tailgate, is it just carpet or should the panel pop out as well?
