Might be worth noting that a lot of D3s have optional rubbing strips on the doors, so any panels would need to be able to accomodate these?I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

The strips can also be anywhere on the side. I think the only option would be to cut a 3 inch strip out of your panels when you get them to suit where your strips are.
I know, and also I dont want to block off the air induction vents on the wing. If indeed this part needs to be covered. I will figure it all out somehow. Should be fine. The Panel Man
300+ has a good point there; dealers and owners can stick the protection strips pretty much anywhere between the sill and the door handle...... Yup, the cut a strip out approach looks a favourite.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

They SHOULDN'T be putting them just anywhere there are specific instructions which give heights (from the dorr bottoms) to the millimetre.
A layer of Salisbury Mud works well as side panel protection I find - I picked up what looked like a horrendous scratch off a branch end on Sunday - it turned out that all it had done was drawn a line in the mud Steve N | 21MY Defender | 08MY Discovery 3 (history) | 06MY Discovery 3 (ancient history)
Yup, it's not going to be easy figuring out what's what. I know a chap that works for Land Rover and he'll no doubt be very useful and full of wisdom on this. Cutting a strip out will not be a problem, or even selling it in two peices. The Panel Man

So was there any outcome of this?2005 LR3 HSE Zambezi Silver
Thanks! Unfortunately that is an adhesive based one. I'm really looking for magnetic like The Panel Man was going to get worked up. I don't fancy spending hours wrapping my rover for a few hours in the woods.2005 LR3 HSE Zambezi Silver

To keep this one going, I've just been and done some rough measuring on my D3 and I reckon an 8m length of 500mm wide magnetic sheet will easy do both sides...
On ebay they're mostly 300mm wide so far (but I have asked one of the sellers if he can do 500mm)
For £70, there's enough for two vehicles I reckon....

The magnetic roll seems like a great idea, did anything come of it?
