Check out my gallery as they are fitted to my D4.
I would dispute the 15min claim but they are not difficult to fit. You cannot do it by yourself are they are VERY heavy, two is fine but three is better.
They blend very well, not looking much different to any side step but are very strong. My car gets used off-road regularly and they have prevented any damage so far.
The 'grip tape' is a mixed blessing ....... it is extremely grippy but my girlfriend is slightly vertically challenged & has scratched her leg on it more than once. Nick

Fitted mine last weekend on my own with no problems.
Sit down next to the car. Have the step on your lap and shuffle with your legs under the car. Hold the step up and get one fixing in the centre loose and it will stay there with no problem. loose fit all the rest then tighten them all up and job done.
You won't get much easier

Help!!
I've got a pair of these, but can't fit them, because I am missing the fixings.
Can anyone help with details of the bolt type / dimensions, and I gather there is some kind of special washer?

Thanks chaps great information
Good pictures RRR207 looks exactly what I want
A couple more questions
In a car park would a car door hit them first ?
Can you use a trolley jack under these (not on the tube but on the flat part)?

Depends on shape/height of the offending door but I suggest most would hit bar first.
I've never tried jacking off them but they are very well fitted (about 10 bolts per side) and very strong so I wouldn't expect it to be a problem Nick

These aren't sliders, they're side tubes.
Whilst they will protect your sills, by taking the hit and deforming, their function is more cosmetic.
Sliders on the other hand will take the impact but without deforming.
Had black side tubes fitted on my D4 [& stainless on my D3] but recently changed to sliders.
edited to add: you also mention side steps in your original post.
Steps, sliders & tubes all serve different functions, so you'll need to decide what function you want this item to cover. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧

I owned but never fitted a set of the LR ones, and I currently own and can't fit (because the fittings are still missing) a set of the 'Britpart' Rock / Tree slides.
The rock/tree slides weigh SIGNIFICANTLY more than the cosmetic LR ones, to the extent that I reckon the added weight will be noticeable when driving. However, I have no doubt that if fitted they will offer protection.
Now then, who can tell me what the fixings look like ? Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

The rock sliders I have fitted were made locally here in Oz and bolt to the holes under the black plastic below the doors.
They are shaped to fit the body and have heavy duty tubes which my vertically challenged wife use as a step to get in, so they are dual use.
The plastic moulding then has to be discarded but I have cut it to blend in to the sliders, but the original fromt LR mudflaps cannot be used. I have modified generic mudflaps to suit as where I live I have both the beach and forest tracks to drive on so mudflaps are important to me.
I am at work so until I get home in a couple of weeks (FIFO) I cannot take any pics. There may be someone who has Brad's sliders from AULRO on this forum who may be able to post some pics.
