Spare wheel protection

Hi everyone,
I'm a new member so if this question has been asked before, sorry.

I have just bought a 2009 XS which has a full size alloy spare wheel.

Is there a way to stop it getting covered with gunge and salt while in its stowage position.

I an thinking of a fabric wheel cover.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

They're not fabric though, they're metal and also stop the scroats from stealing the spare.
