Is it my computer, or is the site really slow (or dropping out completely) tonight? Other sites seem ok, but I keep having to shut down the page and open another to get threads to load on here

Main server software update has been carried out tonight - not of the site software but of that which runs the site server itself.
This is to improve site stability - although I have got some further improvements to make to the forum software to reduce server load.
Please report remaining issues, thanks for the feedback so far 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Martin,
I take it that this was the reason that the forum vanished altogether last night then? Was it a long upgrade? I was unconnected for an hour before I headed up the wooden hill.Dr. Ian Malcolm:

Transgenic tomato anyone?

Yes, unfortunately there isn't really a 'quiet time' for the sites so I didn't ask the web host to wait for a particular time before they updated everything.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

It shouldn't have been "at all" - maximum an hour while the upgrades were taking place (approx 8.30pm), but I also believe the server had a small hiccup at about midnight and was down for a while - would that be right?06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
