Sloooooooow

Is it my computer, or is the site really slow (or dropping out completely) tonight? Other sites seem ok, but I keep having to shut down the page and open another to get threads to load on here Confused

eg

Most likely causes:
You are not connected to the Internet.
The website is encountering problems.
There might be a typing error in the address.

What you can try:

it's not your pc Stu it's the site Big Cry same problem happening on the other side too. Think Martin said it was something to do with mappings and he was working on it but its definitely getting a lot worse.

Main server software update has been carried out tonight - not of the site software but of that which runs the site server itself.

This is to improve site stability - although I have got some further improvements to make to the forum software to reduce server load.

Please report remaining issues, thanks for the feedback so far Smile

Martin,

I take it that this was the reason that the forum vanished altogether last night then? Was it a long upgrade? I was unconnected for an hour before I headed up the wooden hill.

Yes, unfortunately there isn't really a 'quiet time' for the sites so I didn't ask the web host to wait for a particular time before they updated everything.

It shouldn't have been "at all" - maximum an hour while the upgrades were taking place (approx 8.30pm), but I also believe the server had a small hiccup at about midnight and was down for a while - would that be right?
