Depends on your use and your budget.
LR one is expensive and when in use, obstructs rear view mirror.
Head rest ones are better, especially with IR headphones, but probably worth even less than LR one when calculating trade-in. You can also get them to play .avi files on CD-R as well as DVDs.
I eschewed both for reasons of budget, frequency of use, and number of cars used; I got a cheapo rucksack job for £125 with 2 screens that strap to the headrest and plug into the 12V socket. Allows me to swap it between cars and just to use it for long journeys with the kids; short journeys they can chat/draw/look out of the window. Has lasted over 18 months so far without problems. I've two screens fitted in rear of mine, check pics in gallery. This setup fully fitted would be around £500'ish depending on what you want.
Two 7" screens, IR headphones (very good) and DVD player in top glovebox.

I didn't go for one on the basis of
a) Cost. £2k is a lot for one screen DVD player
b) View. if I have one, kids will use it more often that not & my view out the back is restricted
c) Three kids, 11, 9 and 3 only one DVD player.........
d) There's some much neater installs you can see on this site
If I don't get a custom headrest install, I'll probably get individual portable DVD players, makes things a lot easier. Bodsys Brake Bible

JKP,
Can I get a few more details of your system ?
What are the actual units. total cost and where did you get it done ?
I'm up in Central Scotland on a fairly regular basis so if you had yours done at a particulalrly good/cheap installer would be intersted to hear.
Many thanks
