Improvement in fuel economy since s/w upgrade today
Since my car had the major software 'enhancements' about 5 months ago, my average MPG has dropped from around 26-28 to 22-24mpg. Today my car had another software upgrade and on my 45min drive home this evening I reset the mpg trip and the average for the journey was 31.7mpg The same drive there in the morning it was 23.7mpg.
In the 10 months/18,000 miles I've had the car, I've never managed to get the mpg that high, even when driving like an 80 year old on a summers Sunday morning. And this evening I was driving pretty fast, as I was enjoying some load music through my new speakers that they fitted today.
I've got a lot of driving this weekend, so I can do further tests, but so far it would seem there has been a major improvement with the latest software release.Matt

Is it really doing that MPG or is it the trip giving that figure. It's just that my 5 week old MY07 D3 shows around 31-33mpg on the trip, but is doing 25-28mpg between brimmings as actually measured.

I've never bothered working out the 'real' mpg, but if I just stick to what the display says, then even if it is way out, I'm still getting a massive improvement in fuel economy.
Even this morning on two separate 3-mile short trips on a cold engine, the mpg is still showing at over 27mpg!Matt

I'd be happy to have my display fibbing to me as the 18mpg worries the FPO (fishing permission officer). I have not been on a long run since I picked the car up but would be over the moon if it showed that it returned the sort of numbers being shown here.FFRR 2017 4.4SDV8 Autobiography. i find with a fully warmed up vehicle, heated seats off, if you reset the trip going down hills on the motorway, you can get it to read 30 mpg + ....until you have to go up the other side
however it seems to be pretty accurate compared to what actually needs to go into teh tank. I have seen a max of 27 out of a tank on A-Road work....normally 24/25 on a daily busy motorway commute.end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

That was my point, the MPG hasn't really improved it's just the measurement system is showing a better number.
A bit like the way the government changes the way they measure inflation. If they want the number to improve, they change the measurement method..
cheers

Matt,
Any idea what software revision / version was used. I'm lucky if I can get 23-24 mpg out of mine. Might be worth investigating if there's another new revision we can step up to.

AFAIK there have been no new engine maps that have been released since May last year (this was the one used in the Enhancement Program). Also GTR now doesn't tell us what new software is available and what it includes since they went to IDS.
Maybe someone form dealer / tuning land can shed some light on this.
It may be they re-applied the upgrade Matt as the system showed error codes ???

It could well be. I noticed a drop in economy when the major enhancements were done 5 months ago, so maybe it has never been right since. I'm working in Tamworth & Cannock this weekend, so I can monitor the mpg over my journeys.Matt
