How badly have I bu**ered it this time?

Hi all, hope you can help me.
Yesterday I did a bit of off roading on a muddy rutted track and got stuck (to the point where I had to be pulled out by a tractor). Whilst being pulled out I heard what sounded like an air leak from the NSF but I had bigger problems so ignored it.
After being pulled out the car felt very strange, the suspension was very bouncy like it had no shock absorbers. It was also saying intermittently "suspension fault, max speed 30mph", "suspension raising slowly" & "suspension in extended mode". I got it home and let it cool down for an hour and tried again, after about 5 miles, same problem. I also noticed the off road display was showing the NSF wheel much lower than the other three. I then went to the pub!
Today I plugged my IIDTool in and it was reporting loads of errors (most about communication failures). It has just occurred to me that I don't know if faults were reset after it was last in a dealers. I forgot to check the mileage for each fault before I did the reset Sad I wrote down the list of errors (below) and reset them. No relevant errors came back but the suspension wouldn't raise fully. I then pressure washed the car (thinking mud might be stuck in the suspension). The car is now saying "reset height when clear of obstacle", "suspension raising slowly" & "suspension in extended mode". I can also sometimes hear an air leak from the NSF. And it doesn't fully raise.

Any ideas?

Errors before reset from IIDTool:

SUSPENSION
C1A03 front left height sensor
U1A13 lost communication with all terrain control module
C1130 frequent level activity in the up direction or unable to lift

TRANSFER CASE
U0132 lost communication with ride level control module
U0126 lost communication with steering angle sensor module
U0138 lost communication with all terrain control module

VEHICLE DYNAMIC
U0138 lost communication with all terrain control module
U0132 lost communication with ride level control module
U0421 invalid data from ride level control module

BODY CONTROL
B1B70 local interconnection network bus circuit 2
B1B89 seat slide motor speed / position sensor (This came back after reset)

TERRAIN RESPONSE
U0100 lost communication with engine control module / powertrain control module
U0101 lost communication with transmission control module
U0122 lost communication with vehicle dynamics control module
U0102 lost communication with transfer case control module
U0132 lost communication with ride level control module

You have an air leak from the sounds of it, which is why it is not raising fully, and possibly a height sensor causing the extended mode error Thumbs Up

John,

Did the farmer hitch up to the central recoevery eye or wrapped around the wishbone or similar...?

Did you get heavily stuck on the right hand front bumper area as this is where the front air pipes go into for controling it.

If you can hear a hissing sound, you may be able to get closer to where it is leaking.

Spray diluted washing up liquid around where the hissing is coming from.

As Mikey says, could be Height sensor causing one issue and a leak causing the other.

On your 4x4 info screen, which corner is flashing?

I've also driven over a peice of wood on a dual carriageway before, which promptly sliced through two wires that go outside the front chassi drivers side wheel arch. Suspension errors immediately. Fixed teh wires and all was OK afterwards.

Hope that helps

the frequent level one was what I got when I burst on air spring
Don’t worry it is supposed to sound like that...honest

Thanks all. The farmer hitched on to the central tow eye and I heard the leak before he started pulling me out.

Everything points to the NSF, the air leak comes from there, the 4x4 screen shows that wheel lower sometimes (but not always and occasionally both fronts). When it goes into suspension fault mode the level of the car is dropping right down (lower than access mode) and it drives very badly (almost dangerous).

I think I'm going to get someone who knows what they're doing to take a look, hopefully I can get it sorted before the weekend otherwise I have to drive to Heathrow in Fliss's Toyota (and I hate that car)

If there are any experts around Grantham (or prepared to travel) and want to earn a few pounds apply here Wink

In my normal closing the stable door after the horse has bolted approach I think it's time for a winch and a shovel!

Needs new suspension air bag Sad

At least I know it wasn't the off-roading that did it (keep other opinions to yourselves, my better half might read this Wink)
