My 2012 rubber mats fitted straight onto these new backward facing clips, so they have changed the design from D3.
Must say just tried to move mine and it wouldn't budge, it certainly would'nt easily unscrew. It looks as if there is a slot cut through the carpet at the back edge and the whole clip has a backing going in under the carpet, which might then lock down, through the carpet, with the front hook part of the clip.
Might look a again when ther is some daylight. If it don't fit the third time - try a bigger hammer

Robbie, have removed these today - found the technique without breaking them; The clips actually come un-done from the front edge (end nearest the front of the car). They are clipped all the way around the carpet, so you cannot remove without first releasing the catch on the front end, which I did with a a small screw driver. Difficult to describe...
I actually took a video of me doing it (got to find a way to post on here...) as well as a photo of the clip, but think because I am new to the forum, don't have the option to post either.
