Suspension - Dealer doesn't believe me

My D3 went to the dealer today to have them sort out why it sinks to 'Access Level' when parked for several hours.

The day started with me being told by reception that the D3 goes to sleep when not in use (which we know) and that it sill therefore settle down to 'Access Level'. "I don't think so" I said, and promptly demonstrated this with the standing height of the other D3s on thier forecourt. Sad

After having had the vehicle for the day I have just received a phone call to tell me that TestBook hasn't found any faults and is telling them the car is fine. They have now requested to keep my vehicle over-night to see for themselves whether it sinks or not.

They must really think I'm stupid to imagine the behavour I've described to them. After all if TestBook doesn't show an error then there can't be one and it must be the customer's imagination.

What's the betting that someone comes in tomorrow morning and shuffles my D3 around the car-park to get at another car and it re-sets itself to 'Normal' height before anyone looks at it.

Perhaps a suggestion that the dealer spends the night underneath the car. If he cannot get out in the morning, it HAS dropped, then he will know. Obviously from what you say there is an air leak. Do you have anywhere very very quite where you could listen to it, you may be able to hear the air leaking. Other than that it could be soap and water testing the air pipe joints.

It seems to take about 6 hours to sink - though it does appear quicker in the warm weather.

I'm hoping that it does leak and the Dealer can have the 'fun' of searching for the leak. I wonder though if there is anything in the ECU's logic that could get confused and it keep telling the car to adjust itself again and again getting itself lower and lower until it eventually reaches the 'Access' Height?

I don't think so, this sounds like a typical mechanical slow leak.

It could be very difficult to find the leak, as I think the volume of air in the system is fairly small. A tiny leak could have a significant effect on the height of the car.

Just spoken to the dealer.... and... it SANK Overnight. Really I said.

Whole attitude now appears to have changed towards me, now they know I'm not being over sensitive to my vehicle's needs... Very Happy

They haven't found any physical leaks, but are now check each and every sensor and relay. Apparently they've just received a bulletin that indicates one sensor for special attention as it apparently gets really dirty. Rolling Eyes

Next update in 2 hours.
