Hi folks,
I hope you all had a good christmas and are looking forward to the New Year Can anyone point me in the direction of an expedition roof rack or suppliers which aren't going to cost nearly £1,500.00
Many thanks

My first question when people ask about roof racks is do you really need one/what are you putting on it?
If it is mainly for a roof tent consider roof bars as they are lighter and cheaper! Depending on tent can be combined with a basket for some extra storage.
IF rack is needed then questions to ask include
Luggage rail fixed (not so good for roof tents) or detachable
Steel or aluminium?
Steel are cheaper then Ali, however what finish? Paint or powder coated if damaged will rust and push coating off. Just galvanised looks a bit agricultural so galv plus powder coated?
Ali, welded or bolted?
Ease of attaching aerials, spot lights, work lights awnings etc

It's buried in the garage.
It's the prospered glass roof version for HSE but fits others, has the mesh floor.
Like the one in last picture on this ebay link.

Selling at £879
I also have two roof bars to go with mine.
£600 the lot

Hannibal racks do look very well built. Is it right that these can carry a ton ???? , not that you'd want that much up top anyway.......

It is very well built. Not sure what it will take weight wise but we have a construction business and you'd be amazed what we get on it. Also great for camping.
Personally I prefer flat racks. I just think they are more versatile.

Hi Brendan
Thanks for the post. I use a roof rack on my land rovers because i carry a lot of kit both work wise and doing the camping trip thing too and serves to free up the back on the wagon for either kids or more expensive kit that needs to be secure.
I've choosen the land rover make bescause it's more aerodynamic and lighter than the one i had on my D2 which was a Safety Devices one.
