Scratched leather steering wheel |
|
After only a few weeks of fitting a new steering wheel provided as part of TLO's group buys, SWMBO has managed to put a deep scratch in it about 8" long getting out of the car with her coat zip.
Anyone know the best way to get it out as I don't fancy spending another £140 on a replacement wheel |____000_

Just put some leather cream or nourisher on it ? GLIPTONE is good stuff
If its lost a bit of colour you could always daub some boot polish on the affected area ? but dont make the wheel slippy. Only dead fish go with the Flow !

Have a word with Trimline systems in Aldershot.. They claim to be Vinyl, Leather, velour and plastic Refinishing Specialists.
Tel 07774 278773 or 07778 895257. Speak to either of the Allwood guys, brothers I think. I used them on my D3 and they were superb. usual disclaimer, just a satisfied customer.

Worth having a look at her ring, it may have rough edges and be the problem

Thanks everyone, will let you know how it goes.
If it was her rings then it will be off to 'cash4gold' to pay for a new wheel however think it was a zip as she did the same on the old wheel.
Need to raise the steering wheel and reset the seat to a low position I think for her. |____000_

She will be doing what 95% of them do and sitting to close to the wheel getting out and catching the wheel with her clothes.

More like her shopping bag type hand bag that most women including mine have nowadays with everything including kitchen sink in it, they usually park them on the passenger seat and just drag them out with them demolishing anything that gets in the way.
Try one of the shoe polishes that is for treating scuffs on children's shoes, they are a liquid with a built in pad, work wonders on leather shoes. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

If only I'd found a diamond on her ring : I could have sold it for nthe cost of a new steering wheel
Imagine the Daily Sport : Man find diamond when looking at wife's ring. Gone but far from forgotten 55' plate HSE.

SWMBO not allowed near my baby, her car:
In true Spanish style bumps and dents on every corner as believes the best way to get in or out of a parking space is to judge the distance by hittng the car in front/behind.
Steering wheel complete mess due to rings.
Front wind screen full of scores due to clearing screen with her hand.
Bonnet snd boot full of scratches due to hand bag being placed on it the dragged off.
I could go on, however she does run a sucessful PR business, so her life is not that differnt to Ad Fab TV programme (which is closer than you think to the lala world they live in) only the dog, fishing and playing with car keep me sane! (moan over)

SWMBO has vowed never to drive the D3 again, lets see how long that lasts, and due to the bad weather has been driving the 300tdi. Been out it that today and guess what, yep same marks on that steering wheel. off to get some duck tape today to cover the zips on her coat and moving the wheel to maximum height. |____000_
