AJS - are the Duratracs any better in the snow.
Im looking for a good allround offroad/snow/winter tyre comparative with the Cooper Discoverer STs that I had on the D3.
I have to say that im very dissapointed with the General Grabber ATs in comparison
what are the Duras like compare to the STs and GGATs - would be after X6
Answer is.........So far I can't give you an answer as I have not driven enough on them but think they should perform very well, won't be long now as we will be fitting lot's later in the week so then other end users will answer your questions.
One sure thing is they won't be as Goodyear don't do that.

A friend has just arrived in his highly modded Wrangler with Duratracs.
His verdict on the Duratracs performance in the snow is that they're great in soft freshly fallen snow, fine with the brown slush, but like "skates" on compacted snow and ice. Each tread block has two sipes in them (unlike the MTR), but these are still an aggresive off road tyre.

These Duratracs are 285/75/16. To be honest, I really can't see how they can have got the mountain/snowflake symbol. Absolutely no comparison at all with a conventional high silica content multi-sipe winter tyre.
They are extremely tough and great in mud and general off road use though.
Dunc, you know this bloke from playing on Salisbury Plain, he only live a few miles from you. I'm sure he'd be more than happy for you to check them out.

Dean is quite right not to take money on tyres not yet in stock, they tried to deliver these in a 44 foot truck which may well have got into our yard but would have taken one hell of a long time to get out in the conditions.
I was out just after 10am yesterday and did not get back to work, Dean had no contact with me as I was on a film shoot so goes by the book.
I belive these will be into our stock today so call please.
Don't knock this Duratrac untill you have tried it yourself please, it has a mountain and snowflake on the sidewall as have General AT2 and BFGoodrich AT KO and none of these are sold as a winter tyre, but do have winter ability, so lets wait and see.
I do think it could be a very good all rounr tyre.

Don't think anyone's has been knocking the Duratrac. I posted some info., from a long term Duratrac user, on how they performed on road in the current wintry conditions that we have here. Thought it might be useful for those who were considering purchasing them.
Do we have a price for these?
