Thumbs Up Cheers Paul, I am just waiting for my login details to be confirmed then I can browse, still no warning lights or obvious faults with disco so hope they are all historic.

Hi Mash

the thread has a lot more responses and detail, so well worth reading when you get your login through, but here is Colins initial response within the thread to whet your appetite :

Quote:
To answer the second
In respect of the Nanocom Evolution reporting that there are too many faults. this is not actually an error of the nanocom, but more an error in the expactation of the user

While the number of faults provided by a vehicles ECU's that the Nanocom Evolution unit can process under any given circumstance is limited, it is still certainly far more than would be meaningful to anyone and certainly more any human would want to scroll through anyway.

As indicated in even the pre purchase coverage documentation, the Nanocom Evolution fully supports the ISO14229 standard that all CAN BUS based vehicles provided by Land Rover use, including the ability to totally customize it's fault code reading abilities as per that standard.

As someone who has read and fully understands the ISO14229 standard and so fully appreciates the difference between Tested and Non Tested fault codes, and having tested the Nanocom Evolution based on that understanding i can tell you that there is no problem with the equipment and its capabilities at all.

ATB

Colin

Hope this helps a bit more
Paul

Just catching-up with this thread Whistle

So, if I buy one of these - and I subsequently change my D3 for a D4 - what's the deal?

I have posted this over on the BBS forum but realise that they are now on their Christmas break Sad

I am trying to do a ccf edit to switch on DRL's I have been on the genesis site done the edit and transferred the files to my SD Card, I then pop this back into the Nanocom and connect it to the car, it goes through the process of asking which file to open and I select INFO.ENC file that I have placed in a folder in the BBS folder on the card but after a short while it pops up with an error

Unable to find SBL File

I have reformatted the card numerous times and re downloaded the files for the card from the restricted area but still get the same Big Cry Perhaps it's something I'm doing wrong I don't know. I have recorded a video of the series of events but it is taking ages to download from my phone

Had a similar problem with mine, so I got a new SD card, downloaded the 2 files for the Can Bus on the restricted site, downloaded the new file from the Genesis site and hey presto - it worked. So i would suggest you get a new D card, format it then do the above.

Thanks for that Thumbs Up , I have just done that, I had a brand new SD card so I formatted it and downloaded the files from the restricted area and a new copy of the CF edit but it has exactly the same result, i'm wondering whether mine being a D4 has anything to do with the error Sad

Try using this - https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/ - to format your SD Cards...

@HairyDan; I had the same with the original SD card too, I formatted it and copied the folders and files back to it with the card in the PC, still no joy, I then formatted it again, put the card in the Nanocom and used the Nanocom file manager to create the folders, then with the Nanocom connected to the pc via USB and the card in place, I could use the windows file manager to put the files back into the appropriate folders on the card.
I don't believe being a D4 would make any difference.

Well I downloaded the formatting tool that Dave suggested, and then created the folders on the Nanocom and copied the files into the folders but exactly the same out come.

The Nanocom can see the SBL folder as I scanned the front lighting ecu and saved the data to the SBL folder just to see if I could access the folder and that worked OK

Reading the error message it is saying Unable to find SBL File so maybe it can find the folder but a file is not there, I don't really know I'm all out of ideas now.
 Cheers Ian
