In fact - can you guess where my current avatar is taken?

Doh! Only Joking.
The Avatar could be one of hundred's straight (or winding) but undulating roads with fields around, although the snow must have been a while ago.... Bodsys Brake Bible
Wiping a frozen windscreen is a quick way to knacking up your wiper blades.
I've noticed the same with the auto wipers switched on and I have to say that it does seem to be a problem.
Even if the door isn't open - get in, shut the door, start engine with windscreen frozen. Can't see a way round this unless a software fix could determine that the wipers shouldn't come on at start-up when the outside temp is below 4 degrees unless a user intervenes by switching them off and on.
No doubt, everybody would complain if were to do this then too.....
At the end of the day, there is no business case for LR to fix this as it means they will sell more blades
There may even be circuitry that stops the wiper motors if the blades are frozen (but I don't want to be the one to find out). I'm normally fairly anal about freeing wiper blades - I obviously just wasn't thinking this morning and I didn't assume the blades would be frozen as there was no ice on the drive.
The DII had an even more annoying trait that wasn't numpty-related: if you opened the door in heavy rain, the guttering took the opportunity to empty itself onto the driver's seat. At least the D3 doesn't do that!

Guy, I think the circuitry that protects a set of frozen wipers is simply the fuse...
...As to being a numpty, yes I think so and I'm qualified to say so 'cos I've done it more than once myself Dr. Ian Malcolm:
"Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should."
Transgenic tomato anyone?
Had 45cm here in the last 24 hours. Sadly I only have a Skoda Octavia 4x4 hired from geneva to play with, but it's proving to be fun!
Back in the Alps in Feb with the D3, which I am hugely looking forward to. I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Am I the only one here who is wondering how the 5 perfectly/evenly spaced circular patches in the snow on the bonnet formed?

Circles in the snow, what fun this morning in Surrey snowland (well before the gritters got out).
Saw couple of other Discos with those identical snow cicrcles formed on the bonnet..could be a new trademark!
