Placed my order with Nick (TLO)
He said one of the things (micro switch I think) is on back order at the moment but hopefully not too long a delay until it gets sent.
I also purchased the jump cable for the back of the sat nav from the Disco3 shop. It looks kinda short but hopefully will do the job.

Is it possible to get this working as it would come from the factory with tow assist enabled?

I think Tow Assist is a function of the surround camera setup - this topic refers to the OEM reversing camera only(analogue).
With the full surround camera setup you need 2 additional cameras for the front bumper, 2 wing mirrors with the cameras integrated, a different digital rear camera, a separate ECU to control the cameras & all the interconnect cabling.
I am trying to research retro-fitting this at the moment, but it looks as though it is going to be very expensive.
If you have access to all the hardware, and a faultmate, then yes it should be possible.
Hope this helps

Ah I see, I misunderstood and thought tow assist was a standard feature of the reverse camera

Another rookie question, if I may I assume when the trailer electrics are connected, the rear PDC shuts off?

Hi All, I am a newbie to this forum, but not to LR as I ran several RR's in the 80's. I now have a MY12 August build D4 XS and would also like to get the rear view camera going. From this discussion I understand I would need the following :
1 camera
1 tailgate microswitch with camera wiring
1 tailgate loom again with camera wiring
1 custom rg74 coax pigtail with male smb connectors on each end.
My questions are as follows:
1. I believe most of the above can be supplied by TLO, who are they ??
2. Where can I optain the coaxial cable with the fakra connections to link up the screen?.
3. Does anyone know anyone or a company in Somerset ( Taunton ) that would have a fault mate
or similar to activate the camera?. I assume the local LR dealer would not do this?.
Any help or ideas on above appreciated..

1. The Large One is Nick, the Parts Manager at Land Rover Yeovil.
2. Have a look at this sites shop for the FAKRA cable. They have some for sale.
3. Enabellment can be done by Faultmate OR Autologic machine. Do a google search on either and your locality and it should reveal a few garages that have the facilities. Failing that phone up your independent LR garage and ask! And no, an official LR dealership can't do it.
Hi DD, thanks for that info... I am now onto it...
One question.. on this message thread different posters state that the later screens could use the 6 pin connector or coax ( depending on their view ref shift stick or rotary selector) ... My D4 build is Aug 12 and it has a rotary selector...does this 100% mean its a Fakra connector?. Is there a way to identify if the screen uses the 6 pin or the coax/fakra connection from the VIN number??. If its 6 pin, is this a LR supplied part and how do you wire it??.
I am just trying to make sure I have all the correct parts when I open it up to fit it...
All suggestions appreciated..

Pop up rotary gear = fakra
As above from Wiggs earlier in this topic.
I bought the Fakra cable from the Disco3 shop but it has a phono plug on one end, but I think we need a Fakra to Fakra.
So I bought a male to male or plug to plug SMB (like fakra but not got locking clips) cable off the 'Bay as Andrew (AJSMS99 who has done this on a 2012 rotary gear knob model disco 4) said that this is what is required.
You can have a look for the FAKRA cable end when you pop the lower central console off as it looks like this is easier than getting to the Nav screen just for a look-see (there are posts earlier on in this topic with links to dismantling).
Like you, I was wanting to get everything ready before the dismantling began and I think TLO sent my parts Friday so should be here this week!
