Alternators - overcharging

There seem to be a number of threads about at the moment where the amber EPB light is flickering.

See:

In most it seems to be an issue with over charging and seems to be linked with having a replacement alternator.

I understand that there was a "bad" batch of RTX alternators - but some of these problems also seem to be happening with LR dealer replaced items too.

Has there been a batch of faulty Denso alternators too?

TLO

Thank you, that's really helpful to know - the one I had fitted by my local dealer in October 2102 is coded as LLR008861 on my invoice - does that mean that it was a serv exchange one?

Would it have had just a 12 month guarantee?

Many thanks

Paul

I am waiting to get mine checked (Monday hopefully), new alternator fitted recently.
I just want to know if this is going to cause major issues or not?

Had NO issues with new Denso units.

Denso do not sell any re-manufactured units.

As above. I have never had an issue with a new Denso unit either. Would not even entertain fitting one that was not a Denso, or genuine unit Thumbs Up

I went for refurb one from a guy that does nothing but work on alternators and starters.

http://www.londonessexautoelectrics.co.uk/index.htm

£165 all done and seen it tested with 1years warranty and upgraded regulator no problems so far and so impressed with service and knowledge. Great to see some good old british engineering Smile

So far I'm very happy with my savings time will tell if its right decision.

Cheers
Chris
