You need to have a code writer......
Faultmate (I think)
MSV2
IID tool
T4
Etc etc
As I understand it, you can have it put int TT Mode & then drive it to the tyre shop ( at under 40Kph I remember)
Have the alignment done & just drive off. The car will leave TT mode at faster than 40 Kph
Some have been lucky & needed nothing but others have the sort of excitement that you are.
Let us know how you go.

For TT mode, you do need the correct diagnostic equipment.
When in TT mode, the red suspension light will not go off, regardless of how fast you drive
Wheel alignment can be done without having to put the car into TT mode

New news: my wife now reports strange noises from the suspension like a creaky door or a rusty spring. Seemingly unconnected to what the steering's doing. Possible ball joint I wonder?

Not sure TT mode goes off at any speed. You can drive the car around but the suspension is working too hard and that is bad for reliability. My indie sets the car into TT and drives a short distance to the 4 wheel alignment place - this is fine and he takes it out of TT when it is returned back to their place.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Have replaced a few creaky lower ball joints. For piece of mind though, I would check they have tightened up the lower wishbone bolts (just in case)My D3 Build Thread

Local garage think it's the Power RAck
Bit irritating to have a major component like this go wrong - but the noise is apparently coming from there. No fluid leaks from power steering. LandRover OE price high as expected - friendly garage looking for an aftermarket price.
How could this fail on a 2006/7 car?
The good news is........at least the weather forecast is no longer for snow......
