Folks
I have a 2005 HSE that I have flashed the instrument cluster and now have the 'clock on the dash'.
No problems from the 'low coolant warning' when it was done.
I subsequently had to remove the expansion tank when I renewed the air con condenser. I took the time to clean the expansion bottle while it out as it was grubby.
Sure enough a week or so later I started getting the 'Low Coolant Warning' message!
I checked the level and sure enough it was perfectly OK, about halfway between low and full.
I thought that I probably had disturbed the sensor, so I replaced it rather than the whole expansion tank. £5 ish vers £35, a bit of a no brainer really as it's easy to replace the sensor.
Everything hunky dory for a month or so, but on a long trip up to Newcastle the message suddenly reappeared. I stopped and checked the level and yes it was fine!
So why has it reappeared? The sensor was the proper Land Rover part.
The message comes and goes as it pleases, so the question is why?
I did check the wiring and it looked OK, and it isn't a bump that sets the message to appear.
Is this a normal stored fault or a self correcting one, i.e. it only appears when there is a fault and resets when the coolant level is topped up if low?
All ideas please.

It's not the sensor, its the float in the tank. You need a new tank.Bodsys Brake Bible
Thanks guys!
I wondered why everybody replaced the tank and not just the sensor which I thought WAS the float;-) Oh well live and learn!
At least it isn't a difficult job, headlamp out, remove two bolts and use the hose clip tool to great effect. Just try and keep the coolant loss to a minimum!
Secondary question: Can the instrument cluster update be used to put the clock in the top left of the display on a 2007 model which has the clock in the 'trip and fuel consumption' field? The cluster has the green lights on to clarify the model.
