Disco 3 Transmission problem |
|
HI All, can anyone help me. recently this problme had occured, and now repeating itself more and more. when driving (in D) and i come to a stop say road junction, or trafic lights, it seems the gear slips out of D, a slight pull on the gear stick then puts it back, fine while i am driving, but more often now, when i come to a stop, the gear comes out of D. i have tried to put it in Tectonic but Transmission Fault comes up. so back to normal, no fault sign, just keeps slipping out of D. anyone experienced this problem?

Very common issue & easy to fix, just needs a bit of spray grease on the linkage or link replaced. Will dig out details.

Hi Guys, thanks for your replies. i have found this very useful (yet to sort out problem) i will try the spray first, as the second post sounds a little tech, but so well explained and sounds easy. if the first one does not work will have a go at the second one, by replacing all the parts.
Thanks again

Don't forget spray grease, not WD40. ISTR the latter will work for a short time but will then dissolve any grease out of there. So I've been told.

DSL and Kav thanks for your advice. Had some Greece put on the linkage and looks like its running like a dream. I can not believe how smooth the gear shifting is now. Thanks again guys.
