I have been running GG ATs for 30,000 miles now - and the car has just had a “Visual Health Check†from Guy Salmon who report that:-
The spare wheel/tyre (unused) has 13 mm of tread.
The front tyres have 7 mm of tread.
The rear tyres have 8 mm of tread.
In every case the tread depth is the same across the tyre (Outer/Middle/Inner).
I am reasonably confident that I will get at least another 20 - 25k miles from this set, but we shall see.
Questions?
1. Should I swap the tyres around to even wear; and
2. If yes how - front to rear, or diagonally?
3. Should I bring the unused spare into use?
My thoughts are - Yes / Diagonally / Yes (in place of a 7mm tyre).
Your thoughts please?

This sounds a little anal but a purist tire ninja told me to swap front to rear rather than diagonally. That way the direction of travel of the tire doesn't change. If you do change the rotation direction it changes effects the way the tire, er, weave sits. I'll get my coat. 
I get what he was telling me, but we were talking about tires rather different to GG ATs at the time (and standing next to a Ferrari).
But I still go front to back as a result of that conversation. It sort of makes sense.
I'd be tempted to leave the spare where it is rather than upset the equation with a significant difference between the other tires. I'd use it when I change to a new set, thus only needing to buy one new tire assuming the fronts will ultimately go first. If you're defo going to bring it in, I'd assume it would be best on the back axle.
(And before anyone asks, we weren't talking about directional tires). PAGODA

personally I would leave well alone, I seem to recall reading that the fron tyres must be the more worn, or you upset the TC, you're getting good wear and the spare shouldn't come unter too much UV attack being under the car. My usual aim is to keep all rolling radius's as close as possible, particularly on one axle so even if I did have to fit the spare after i.e a puncture, I would take the neighbour of the punctured tyre for a spare and replace the flat tyre so that you had two new tyres on the same axle.
This is just my opinion, will be interested to hear what those who are really in the know have to say...

I'd swap them round unless I wanted a couple of spares with semi decent (5mm) tread on them. Both senarios I'd then be buying 3 when they (all or the fronts) get to 3mm.

For your situation, I would leave as is and when something wears to 4mm or so, bring the spare in and buy another tyre, then relegate the best of those to the spare.
How long (as in months) have they been on ?
Reason I ask, is that I have GG AT's too and by the time I get to 30k-40k, the tyres will be 5/6 years old

Tyres have been on since January 2010.
One factor to bear in mind is that ATs are no longer available.
(Andy where are you ?) - If I have to replace 2 tyres can I mix ATs with AT2s ?

No problem to mix AT with AT2 so long as you keep them paired, only swap front to rear as sometimes if you go diagonally it can make them noisy.
If you are on AT2 maybe bring it into play as the AT2 is no longer available so you can't even buy three and use your spare, or just leave it underneath and only use if you get a puncture.

Stock is good on all AT tyres.
