Coolbox battery protection |
|
Have a 2008 D3 with a factory fitted coolbox which dealer told me was fitted with a battery voltage protection system to prevent a flat battery. Just had a flat battery & after 3 days of workshop investigations the conclusion is that the coolbox was left on with the ignition key removed. Any thoughts would be welcome.

I believe there was an issue cannot remeber which way round but if you put a D4 box in a D3 or the other way round D3 in a D4 it does not cut out and causes a flat battery, cannot remeber which way round it is though but that might be what your issue is. MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

I can confirm, through experience that if you put a D4 fridge in a D3 and leave it on it will flatten your battery.
I think the reason that it is so much cheaper than the D3 version is it's just a fridge. There are no technical bits and bobs attached to it. The cut out is in the D4 loom hence no need.
I am now very wary of using my fridge in the D3. HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

I have 1 of those WAECO cut offs. But there is nowhere to mount it inside the cubby box beside the fridge. Plus it has the wrong connectors. So you'd end up cutting the plugs off the veh loom to get it to work. HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE

That cut out level is too low for a cranking battery.
11.6v is fine for a deep cycle auxiliary battery but cranking batteries should not be cycled below 12.0v 2008 TDV8 RR Lux + 2009 D4 2.7
