FBH and CAN bus
Do you have to have the FBH connected to the CAN bus? Will it flag a DTC if removed from the bus?
I have a Webasto timer fitted at the mo, just want to run the FBH independently.
Fed up the vehicle overriding what I want on or off!
I know the car uses the FBH for supplementary heating, but I can easily rig up a PIC to monitor outside temp, coolant temp and engine running, to fire up the FBH to assist vehicle warm up/heating...

It will work without the CAN connected, I have an IanNP harness which disconnects the FBH from the CAN 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Cheers Martin!
Going to use a PIC with a RTC and alarm, 18F24J11 springs to mind, also has more than enough ADC channels for temps etc.
RTC to replace the Webasto timer. Also allows multiple programmed cycles including a month function for winter settings.
Try and use the 'Land Rover' button on the key fob for remote manual start for the FBH..
Need to have prod about
Sounds like this week's project....

For testing, fine, remove the CAN pins but for general use I would leave the CAN bus connected so you still have automatic control.
How are you going to talk to the FBH from the PIC?06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

Our FBHIC runs the heater independantly and the cars CAN does not stop our control or the heater from funning when we unlock and lock the car, for more in depth a control as well as FBH feed back info our GSM module monitors many things you mention as seen below.

Which pins do I need to remove to stop the fbh switching off when I unlock the car.
I want control of it using the webasto oval timer only. I don't want errors flagging up on my dash so I thought I'd ask if anybody has done this.

CAN bus at the D3 FBH are the following wires:
yellow/white (pin 7)
yellow/blue (pin 4)
If you are removing them make sure to insulate and secure the ends so they do not touch each other or any metal part on the vehicle.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
