| Disco 3 winter wheel/tyre suggestions |
|
Hi everyone,
I currently have 22" stormer wheels on my disco but i am looking to pack these away for the winter and get some winter wheels and some sort of all terrain tyres.
I will be using the jeep for work and this includes accessing wind farms and quaries and the such also sometimes towing heavy loads into fields.
I am struggling to decide what the best wheel and tyre combination would be for me so if anyone has any suggestions it would be very much appreciated.

Word to the wise, much tetchyness here when peeps refer to D3s as jeeps.

Big choice, 17", 18" or 19", depends on how much you want to spend.
Keep looking and I am sure you will see the wood in the trees. 
Look in the For Sale section and I think you will find what you need.

Andy from AJS is far too nice to push his company.
I would go for 17" wheels for the winter & GG ATs from Andy @ AJS.
If you spoke nicely to him he might even find a decent set of wheels for you!

Would you join a Porsche forum and call it a Skoda?
Anyway, enough of that. If you want a true winter Tyre for road use the popular choices are Vredstein, Continental or Pirelli. I've run conti wintercontacts and pirelli scorpion snow and ice, both a massive improvement on non-winter ATs but bloody awful offroad. I don't think you'll be disappointed in any of these three for road use.
If you plan to go offroad, check out the wrangler duratrac

Sounds as if you need tyres with proper off road ability, which in the winter you'll want for towing your heavy loads off-road, combined with the winter tyre mountain/snowflake symbol for grip and braking on ice and snow.
If so, there's currently only one choice. The Goodyear Duratrac in 255/55/19
