One year on. so whats it all cost? |
|
Hi,
we have had the D3 a year now time ticks away when you are not paying attention.
So what has it cost to run a D3 in a year
first week needed an egr bit of unlocking and a check around and the first £300 gone.
7 months later and everything fine but started to hear a wheel bearing, was worth doing both steering arms as well so another £340 gone
That takes us up to Sept full service and an MOT £380
so where are we up to 300 + 340 + 380 = £1020
although did I mention had to tax it sept as well robbed of £475 fuel and tax you just have to pay and
So is that good , bad or indifferent???
Dont know about the deprecation until we sell it but £100/month maintenance plus tax and fuel.............
Have i got off lightly Transit! 2019

Sounds quite good to me! I have owned mine for a month and had a courtesy car for two weeks of that, whilst my car has been in for repair! Repairs were - lower front rear wishbone bushes, new front lower balljoints,4x4 alignment, two new front suspension sensors, a new suspension air compressor. Admittedly this is currently being covered by the garage I purchased it from! But reckon repairs cost in the region of £1000 which works out at £33 a day, this excludes diesel and tax costs
I reckon you have got off very lightly

I've had mine 7 months (MY 07) & have had new front discs & pads plus a new suspension compressor. Haven't had service yet (due December).
I'll consider myself lucky if I get to a year with similar monthly costs.
Not complaining though - great car!!
PS - also spent £480 on BAS remap - this isn't included though - SWMBO not informed!!

EGR's and wheel bearings par for the course on any vehicle.
My first wheel bearing went about 50k miles iirc (front n/s). The front o/s went at 130k miles.
They're certainly not cheap vehicles to own/run, but when you consider their huge weight steering and suspension parts will always take a hammering.

I like it, a style of oblivousness and self denial, i will adopt the same approach and hopefully my Disco3 will only cost 99p to run for the year

Yep, Mickey is so right! If you get rid of it you will miss it, disco 3's are absolutely the best car on or off the road when they are running ok! It's a case of adopting a good sense of self denial about cost and trying to rectify faults yourself

Out of my D3/4 99% of the time they have been running like a dream!!! When they go wrong they go wrong! But don't all cars??? I have put several gearboxes and had numerous engine management problems too in German cars so its not just Land Rover that have their moments!
When they do go wrong though, it can be costly! Luckily most of my problems have occurred in manufacturers warranty.
But 5 years ownership and 99% on the road! I can live with that 2023 Ineos Grenadier 3.0 Diesel Commercial
