Low Coolant Level Message what's the latest?

I've just started getting the 'Low Coolant Level' message, but the actual level is fine and there is no fluid loss.

What's the latest fix?
Is it still replace the bottle or is it replace just the sensor?

Guide prices and part numbers and where to buy for both would be useful.

Many thanks

Ian

Hi Geoff

Thanks for the comments.
Believe it or not I had the bottle off when renewing the air-con condenser not long ago so I know it isn't difficult, in fact it's remarkably easy. Thinking about it I probably 'disturbed' the sensor which has made it porous!

As I am taking the bottle off, I might as well just renew the sensor. Considerable cost saving, well £30 quid difference between just the sensor and the complete bottle and well 30 quid is 30 quid!
Can you confirm that it is the sensor that goes porous and causes this problem. I remember that the sensor moves up and down but what stops it from coming out?

So Big One what is the best price for an expansion bottle versus a sensor please. D3 2005 TDV6 HSE Auto.

Cheers

Ian

Hi Wiggs

No, the clock on the dash surprisingly didn't throw up the 'Low Coolant Level' message!
So I thought I had got away with it! Well I had but I think disturbing the bottle when renewing the condenser, I gave it a good clean, must have triggered the float porosity problem!
You don't know if the sensor just slides out do you?
By the way I still haven't changed the instrument cluster for my new green lamped one. I will get round to it I promise! I drove down to my place in France overnight and the red lamp started to get to me!

Best

Ian
