trim below Nav screen
Guys
My D4 has the piano black trim, and this includes a small curved moulding that sits directly below the nav screen. Do any D4's come with a small "mat" like the D3 had in this same position, as I found that very useful for a pen, carpark ticket, my glasses sometimes?
Cheers

loads of veiws - no answers - so I guess no D4's have a mat in that position then.

I think they worked very hard to remove all the handy stowage from the D3 when they morphed it into the D4. My sunglasses now live in the cup holder, leaving me short of a place to put my cups.

Hi
This post hit a chord with me - I picked up my D4 SDV6 XS yesterday - and was suddenly hit with the lack of cubby holes compared to my previous D3. (What a different car!)
Where do you guys put your 'key fob' while driving - I want to put my glasses in the coin holder (empty park brake hole?) so I can get them easily - and I don't like the key in my trouser pocket ... and don't want to block the drinks holders ... ended up bunging it down in the door bin ... Why didn't they create a 'slot' where you could insert it, even if you don't need to twist of turn it like a key?

The key is easy as I just leave it in my pocket. The rest:
D3: Mobile phone used to go in front of the gear lever
D4: Now sits uncomfortably in my pocket
D3: Sunglasses used to go in the rubber tray to right of gear lever
D4: Now sit in cup holder
D3: Drinks used to go in either of the pair of cup holders or in the passenger side pop-out
D4: Drinks can only go in the cup holders when sunglasses are worn!
D3: Big drinks bottles used to go in side pocket
D4: Side pocket storage base no longer flat so bottles tip-over
D3: Wife's glasses used to sit on mat in front of satnav
D4: No home for them
D3: Passenger's mobile, glasses case etc on shelf between glove boxes
D4: Surface too slippery and cheap to stop anything from crashing from side to side
D3: On long journeys my (rather empty) wallet used to join my mobile phone in area in front of gear lever
D4: Stays uncomfortably in my pocket
I guess someone worked hard to make the D4 less practical.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

I had an old rubber boot liner in the loft from a car I parted with years ago. Cut a strip to put on the shelf above the glovebox and its usefulness has now been restored
Agree though the storage in the D4 is much less well thought out than the D3.

And what an excellent job they did
In particular the coin tray, which is about as useful as a chocolate fire guard"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...
Locking rear E-diff
RLD spare wheel protector & sump guard
Extended roof rails
Series 111 mudflaps
Black side tubes,grill and vents

Agree with all of this. Biggest gripe for me with the D4 is the loss of oddment storage in the cabin.

Not only me then who thinks the cabin practicability is poorer on the D4
OK, its a much improved cabin style, but even something as small as leaving that small dash mat in front of the Nav screen would have been useful, instead of a stupid shiny bit of black plastic
I also miss the space in front of the gear lever, my phone and wallet sat there quite nicely whilst traveling.
Bah Humbug (where do I sign up for "grumpy old men")

The cup holders are badly placed too. On the 3, you can easily grab your latte on the move, without contorting your elbow back on itself. Now, on the 4, they are at the back of the console and really hard to grab the cup to take a slurp.
I reckon the designer was double jointed.

I tend to agree that the D3 was more storage friendly at the front though I don't lose any sleep over it....I just store things differently now and don't really think about it
One thing that does drive the into me is that the icons for the TR are not symmetrical to the selection switch. Why is this? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
