Great write up Mikey! Thanks for taking the time to share. Thumbs Up

Also good input from other members. But I still have a question! Confused Can the software update be done using the Nanocom Evolution and if so how?

Many thanks,
Steve Thumbs Up

My old compressor was leaking at joint between dryer and compressor due to corrosion. At first it was just slow to reach pressure resulting in 'normal suspension height only' fault. Eventually the motor burnt out and blew the 60 amp fuse. Just after installing a new compressor from TLO (great service, thanks) using this guide. Bow down Would recommend removing the compressor from the bracket before installing to allow access to the top bolt. Also when installing new captive nuts be careful not to lose them inside the chassis rail Embarassed. All working now and no faults. Thumbs Up

I stripped down the old compressor afterwards and the alloy parts were very corroded. Explains why I couldn't service the exhaust valve.

After a few days of suspension failure faults of increasing frequency I decided to bite the bullet and change out the compressor. Swapped it out today for the AMK unit, found this post very useful and informative. Whole process completed in under an hour.
Much to my surprise, I still had the original fault, the bearmach hawkeye showing "circuit shorted or open etc" On resetting the fault through the code reader it was showing a momentary 11 volt reading before raising the fault again. Time to scratch the head and curse for a while, whilst contemplating what to do next, started with checking the 60A fuse / fusible link in the engine bay fuse box. Looked fine, checked with a multimeter, hmm? reading a little on the high side. Pulled apart to find a hairline crack in the link. Swapped out for one of the 40A fuse links, reset the fault and presto, works fine. Seemed to be a number of other DTC faults present on the system ranging from the actual fault (suspension fault) through transmission and abs faults all of which are now cleared. I had suspected the random faults being from the old battery which has now also been replaced.
If there is a moral to this it is probably, check the cheap stuff first.
I'm not complaining as when I bought the car the previous owner discounted the sale price by more than 4K due to an AC and suspension fault which repairs had been quoted by the dealer. The actual fix was a new compressor drier and AC relay at a total cost of less than $200.
A fantastic car to drive but I can fully understand people loathing them due to the poor reliability of the vehicle. If left to the mercy of dealers and repairers I can see ownership as a very expensive habit. Thanks to forums such as these, one can get a better idea of faults and remedies, Thanks to all the contributors.

Great write up thanks Mike I just swapped my compressor and it was very help full indeed,i just need to get the update done now if there's anyone in the Leeds area that can do it please pm me.
The compressor seems to run longer than before and also I don't think the car raises as high as it used to in off road setting maybe I'm just being paranoid because the compressor eventually stops and the car stays put so I guess it must be fine.
Thanks again Mike it guys like you that make theses forums so helpful!

Can anyone confirm what AMK software/version is required and what diag tool should be used to 'flash' the new software - I have searched through the thread but can't find this. Or is it still not available? I've the got the AMK kit (9H32-2877-AC from TLO)
Many thanks

and the worst thing is ive managed to get together the cash to buy a nice set of 22s which i was supose to pick up tomorrow lol

Has anyone got any pictures of the unit in place with the cover fitted ?

I had mine fitted at Roean Landrover in Telford just before Xmas and whilst looking around the motor today (first decent day this year) I saw the pictures at http://sdrv.ms/161tmRH

To me the pipes either look mis-routed or is this new one a codge ?

Ids

Hi IDS, would you recommend Roean to up-date the suspension software?
I have an AMK compressor to fit and will need it doing.
Roy.
