What are Pirelli scorpion zero like
Just picked up a new to me D3 that has recently been fitted with the above tyres. I have driven a D2 TD5 for the last five years and that always wore general grabbers AT which I liked.
As a farmer the truck does go off road a far bit in all seasons.
So far the new truck has been off road only in grass and stubbles which have been fine but I did go out on some wet bare soil. No problem driving on field but pulled out onto Tarmac and the treads were full of soil/mud that meant it was a bit slippery until they cleared. Never had that issue with the grabbers.
Thanks

Try half of that
Great road tyre, but made of Swiss cheese, and tramline horribly when worn ..... Strangely they seem to be lasting longer on the D4's 20" than on the previous D3's 18's "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Hmmm, thanks for the feedback. Looks like I will be swapping them to grabbers or similar before winter then.
What other tyres suit the D3? It will be in some wet stuff through winter but also on the motorway at times.

They go lots of places off the road too ....lovely tyre until 80% worn but then as said tramlines. Very grippy ...but soft compound does wear faster than some others ...but you can't have it all ways eh 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

My front scorpions lasted 30k and the rears are ready to change now at nearly 40k. The fronts did tramline towards the end but I thought they were a pretty good tyre considering whats sitting on them !!

They last a bit longer than the F1 version.

I cannot tell you anything about off-road useage but for winter tyres, Wintrac Extreme seems a good choice. On my D3 I have Michelin Synchrone for the summer and they have lasted me 73000 kms so far and they will make it to the end of this summer season.

I agree. I had a set on mine. was alarmed at how fast they wore down. I only got just over 10000 miles out mine! I had Mikey check out the suspension. Strangely it was the rears that wore faster than the front.

I had a half worn pair on the front of mine when I bought it. Reasonable tyre but as said, made of cheese and wears out quickly.
I used mine off road with them on. Ok but didn't like mud much and wet grass was also an issue.
There are a few off road tyres that can be fitted depending on alloy sizes. In loving memory of FA54WSK.
Rest well old friend, your work is done.

I have had Scorpions on a previous D3, and my current D4 has them on the 20 inch rims. I can't complain about their performance on the road, quiet, grippy, good in the wet. Also had cause to use them in mild off road situations, and never had a problem. Much better than a set of Wrangler F1's I somehow ended up with on my last D3, they were shocking off tarmac.
On the D3, I got 20k before they needed replacing. On the 4 they have done 8.5k and are barely worn, so I think the 4 is much easier on its tyres (or properly aligned from the factory maybe)

Interested to hear your findings are similar to mine Gareth re lasting better on the D4....I wonder if they changed the compound or if they are just happier with the flatter cornering of the D4 v the D3
I would not have considered putting them back on the 3 after getting through 2 sets quite quickly, but would certainly look at them when it's time to replace them next time round "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

Hi
I had Pirelli Scorpions on mine and found they wore quickly and were horrible from about half worn - wandered about on the rough country lanes around here. I changed them for General ATs which have been great so far. Not really much noisier on the road and much better around the farm and off road. Wear rates look good so far too - I've put 10,000 on them and they don't look worn at all. I'd thoroughly recommend them...MY11 Disco 4 SDV6 HSE

my tyres lasted till 24 k miles...but were lethal in the wet at 18 k onwards....
I put safety in use far above tyre life...what the point in having a tyre that lasts but puts your life in jeopardy every time you use the D3 ?....in the wet they were lethal.....planing at speed & braking was instant wheel lock & the ABS trying its best to cope.
Change your tyres when you can...suggest Vredestien Wintrac4'sBREXIT - done properly.
