Sounds like driver error to me ...I didn't have any such lag when I drove a 2012MY ...and after owning a D2 & 2 D3's I know what lag is alll about 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

There is the issue where pickup can be slow if you have slowed down for a roundabout but are still slightly rolling. When you put your foot down, it feels as if there is nothing happening and then a second later it will launch. This is quite well documented on the board in past posts. However, it only happens in certain scenarios and is not constant. Its almost is if you get the sweet spot (or sour spot) it will happen.

I have experienced significant lag on every diesel Discovery I have owned: D2 TD5, D3 TDV6 and now the (2012) D4 SDV6. The lag is also both ways - take up and lift off. No power problem after this initial lag. Fixing the lag and reducing weight are the most significant improvements JLR can make in my view 2012 D4 TDV6 HSE White

This one is defiantly lag on pickup even from a standing start. It's a bit like driving a senso drive Citroen c2 again...
Wonder if it's just a 1655 Friday car before a big footy match or such like... FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner
Test piloted a new D4 XS SDV6.. Gone and being forgotten i hope!!

This one ? Which one ?
The 2012 I tested was much better on take off than my 09my which was far better than my 06my .....if my new one is similar to the test then I can live quite happily with that. Each to their own experience .... but I'm fairly sure that it has a lot to do with driving style and anticipation of circumstance. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

MY12 sdv6 xs.
I must have a real duffer then as its like a programmed in delay after you push the loud pedal. Nothing to do with driving style as I've taken it over the same route as my td6 and it's the junctions and lights FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner

is there anyone closer for a comparison at all??
Or should i resort to LR assist and see if its not been updated or learned a bad habit from a previous driver??
If i plant my foot there is a definite lag of 1-2seconds before the front lifts and the back sinks on take off.
If however i tease the throttle it seems to cut it down by 1/2 but for a diesel is still slow FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner

Hang on, how can you make a statement like .........
dangerdave wrote: true, I've got a 2012 model and there's no lag, but put your foot down and yes, it will go into Bat out of Hell mode. It's down to driving style, nothing more.
If you state what you've said below ?
dangerdave wrote: That said, I haven't driven it much since I got it, a couple of hundred miles, it's been sitting in the driveway mostly. It's not even had its first wash! I don't get excited over a new motor in truth.
True, it does depend a lot on what type of driving you do, ie dual-carriageway/motorway and you wouldn't notice it !
Do some urban/town driving with lots of stop start work and it soon comes apparent...........well it certainly does in mine !
There is a problem, and LR know about it as previously stated. When I made the initial complaint they informed me that there was a software update and brake switch replacement. Upon entering the LR dealership the service receptionist informed me that I was the dozenth person to enquire about the problem, all on 2012 vehicles supplied by them !
