Well if you're giving one away I'll have it. I'm sure I'll get a few shillings for it on Cobham High Street. More if I don't stick the wheels in the dining room.

Will make up a sign saying "Willing to give a WAG's Wagon a good home" and sit outside the Chealsea ground. Will no doubt have a dozen by dinner time.

Im not trying to say anyone has made the wrong choice by getting a Disco and not an FFRR
I'm just saying from my own experiences of both they shouldn't be discounted so much as people seem to do and they are better than people imagine once they sit and drive one Its just getting over that initial hurdle.
I've been there as i was just about to hand the cash over for a D3 HSE when i got asked if i might like a FF. I drove one and yes it was slower, but ticked all my boxe's and was cheaper FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner

I was comparing 2009 models, both of which I've driven for several days. Just my own opinion, but also one that Autocar's Steve Cropley shares.
For me, the depth of the FFRR boot is too short, so my dog cage has to fit in sideways, thus taking up most of the space. Of course there's more rear leg room in the FFRR than a D3/4, which eats into the boot space.
I could manage easily without 7 seats, I did before we had the D3, but they get used a few times a year which saves having to take a second car.
I found in the real world, that the performance of the 3.0 T/SDV6 versus the TDV8 was minimal. Ultimately I prefered the TDV8, but not enough to warrant the extra cost and lower mpg. The D4 certainly wasn't lacking power and with a re-map I'd imagine the gap would be even narrower. Again my opinion and I tend to drive large 4X4's in a more relaxed style than I would in a "sportier" car, so ultimate performance is not a consideration for me. However, I do have a remap on my 2.7TDV6 as in standard form I found over taking safely to be an issue.
I'm not knocking the FFRR, I love them, but for me the D4 HSE is a better all round package and as the prices show, a more desired used vehicle.
The new 2013 FFRR will of course move the game on again, just as it did in 2006.

Driver error always has a lot to answer for relying on TC and TR too much will always be somones downfall eventually
It would be great to have an equal age d3 vs rr vs rrs at some event sometime. though the rrs would have to be swapped onto the same tyres as the other 2 to make it fair FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner

tbh even with the new one coming out unless we have a winter where it doesnt go below 0'c i think the old ones will stay at decent value as the new ones are doing the usual of going up by a decent chunk FFRR Owner, very nearly became a D3 owner

Me neither, current model is too old now, and the space in the D4 is what I wanted and went for, nothing to do with off road ability or snobbery between the two !

I have driven and used both FFRR and D3/D4's. The FFRR is a very ice car but for me it is not a practical car with a family who go camping etc. The FFRR does not have a big enough boot for my liking and would miss the seven seats although they are not used often, they do get used.
On the other hand the D4 ticks all the boxes, big boot, seven seats and has always gone where I wanted to go come mud or snow/ice. Think some of that may well be down to driver tuition from people on this forum who do alot of off roading MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Most of the time when a 4x4 gets stuck its a bad decision made by the driver, this may well have been the situation here. I would say if you look at departure angles ground clearance etc you will see that the D4 has the current FFRR "Top Trumped"
With respect to the FFRR, they are the ultimate luxury 4x4. However the older design, lack of 7 seats, less bootspace would not warrant spending another £20,000 in my opinion over a D4 for the status of having a "Range Rover". But we all make our own choices. Lovely car, but in my opinion it'd be the D4 practicality and 20k less that gives it my vote!2023 Ineos Grenadier 3.0 Diesel Commercial

I'm lucky enough to own both a 2010 FFRR and a 2008 D3 and they are both fantastic cars and are both very capable on and off road. I am more than happy to drive either but when push comes to shove I prefer my FFRR and the wife her Disco and I think that sums it up, we are all different and have individual opinions and that's a very good thing.
However asking this question on a Discovery forum is always going to result in favour of the "home team" so to speak and the reverse would apply on the full fat forum.
One things for certain, both are better than a sport

Well, as someone who moved from a D3 to a FFRR, and having driven both off road and used both as if they were a tranny van, if it was D3 or FFRR I'd have the FF every time.
But, D4 has the RR luxury levels with the Discovery versatility. My ONLY gripe with D4 is the lack of a petrol variant in the UK. I tried the FFRR and the TDV8 engine is just bostin, but this is very likely to be my last diesel. I just hate the mess that goes with it (a whole other discussion) so it'd be the supercharged FFRR.
But, if I could get the D4 petrol I'd have one in a flash over the S/C. I would. No difference in the comfort levels having driven both, only equipment levels. At a max spec HSE, the only part you don't get is the heated & cooled seats which the Vogue SE FFRR has.
Off road? I'd take either of them anywhere. Both very capable and nothing between them.
And the new L405 RR is going to be over 100k for a properly specc'ed one. Erm, no ta. I'll have a D4 and a weekend toy Fezza then.

I would have a new RRZero though ..start at £71k for a TDV6 which is quicker than the old 5.0 petrol 8)
