Results from adding 2 stroke oil to fuel

It would seem from other threads that a number of us are now adding 2 stroke oil to diesel.

It would be interesting to share objective opinions on its effect.

So far I have only run 500ml through the D3, and the perception is that fuel consumption has improved. However I won’t comment on this until I have covered a much greater mileage, and can analyse consumption over a higher mileage and having brimmed the tank at least three times.

If you are going to record fuel consumption please re ember to add the quantity of 2 stoke oil to the diesel added, otherwise you will be understating you fuel consumption somewhat.

Please don’t post to this thread, unless you have added 2 stroke oil to diesel for at least 1k miles, and if you are claiming a change in MPG that the MPG is accurately calculated.

Thanks to those who helped me make this decision.

Can we add other noticeable differenecs/improvements, eg Euro 4 engine now quieter ? or are we just looking at any MPG improvements

And less smoke Very Happy
I have done c. 900 since adding - getting about 2-3 mpg more (though this is off the car's system) without really trying

Please add what you wish.

But let's keep subjective opinions & debate out of it.

What I hope is that this thread will enlighten us all.

I will 2nd what al says ref quieter euro 4 !
It's less tappety / clackety at idle also quieter on start up.

I too have seen a marked improvement on the in car reader but as yet have failed to make an accurate comparison between fill ups, which will prob be inconclusive now any way as I had the car mapped yesterday so I will have to start again.

I will revert when I have conducted roughly a thousand miles !

09 d3 auto euro 4 engine, covered aprox 1k miles mix of normal use and towing, engine, appears quieter , picks up a little better, and a small increase in mpg from 21-22 to 23-25 normal use then when towing we averaged 24.2 over 260 miles where we got 21.8 over the same route last year.

Will keep using to see how it goes.

Just got to find some locally that makes financial sense.

Done approx 30k miles since first using 2T, biggest difference is quiter start up in winter with no smoke, slight improvement in MPG, at last MOT the tester commented that it gave the lowest emmissions of any diesel he had tested Shocked
Checked MAP sensor this morning out of curriosity and it was spotless, clean as a new pin, it was cleaned 25k miles ago.

Been running 2SO in the RRS for about 10,000km now.

Results

a) less "dieseling" in the morning when cold
b) a LOT less smoke

I can't really say whether it runs quieter or stronger because its decanted and remapped and makes a lovely noise and goes like the clappers Thumbs Up

Also been dosing the D3 for the past 2 weeks since I got her back. Done about 2,000km. Results similar to RRS

I have always run my car with either 2 stroke or redx and when I changed my oil pump casing I was pleasantly surprised how clean my engine was inside, you can see in the picture below
